Fun for kids who like pastries,crafts, or deco denApr 28, 2011

Bought this for my nieces (7,13) to stay a little busy while we hid the eggs on easter. This craft stole the show from the egg hunt! The girls didnt need help in decorating, everything is ready to go out of the box.
You get a little card and some instructions on how to make pretty frosting designs and you get to make 3 key chains and 3 large cupcakes.
The girls had fun adding beads and rhinestones to jazz up the frosting. The only times the kids needed my help was to make a 'pretty' design for them with the 'frosting' bag. If your kids dont care about it looking 'perfect' than you can sit back and let them have fun.In addition to the beads and rhinestones you get in the box, you can even add extra do-dads from crafty things you have around the house into the frosting;beads,glitter,cabochons,buttons.
Only bummer is that it takes about 2 DAYS for the frosting to dry fully. Dont let the outside fool you after a few hours-its still gooey in the middle. Let it dry, so it takes some patience from your little ones (and yourself). Also, we had enough 'frosting' for all the projects but some people say there isnt enough in the bag out of the box, so you may want to buy an extra bag.
I recommend this to kids who like cake decorating. Just the whole 'making it pretty' part is the favorite of many. Also, anyone who likes deco-den type crafts. Perfect for a birthday present for a tea-party theme or baking theme, girl scout craft, rainy day project, etc. If a 7 year old and 13 year old can sit and have the same amount of fun making these you bet I'll be buying this product again.

My daughter is 12 and loved this set. She took her time and made really detailed cupcakes with it. The whole set took her a long afternoon, so not sure if that was $20 worth, but she sure thought so! Of course, once you make the cupcakes, they don't really do anything, but she is at the stage where she loves to make detailed creations and this was a lot of fun. The tips that came with the set really were good to make patterns in the Whipple creme, we were impressed with what a good job she could do with it. She is 12 - I think that is a perfect age for this - too young and you just make a mess, too old and it's not that fun any more. But if your child likes to be very detailed with craft projects, she is sure to love these.

I saw the display for this today in the store and it took me awhile to figure out if these were edible or not. They look so real you might want to eat them - but don't. These are just various sweet crafts (not treats) that you can turn into keychains or other gifts. I brought these home as a surprise to my 7 year old and we had a lot of fun making them for her friends as Christmas gifts. We just love how real they look! Cupcakes are so in right now - they will certainly make a great gift for all of her little friends. Very cool new product for the Christmas season!!

I really enjoyed this set and I like that you can make huge cupcakes and small ones! But I don't think it comes with enough Whipple if you are like me and mess up a lot. I would recommend buying an extra bag just to have around in case you mess up or something. I also think this needs to come with more things to decorate the cupcakes with! Sprinkles, rhinestones, fruit, chocolate chips, etc. If they sold an "accessory" decorating kit I would definitely buy it!

it's a fun craft, my daughter loves it! I would order it again. It came it a timely manner. She is making a lot of crafts with it.
