5Still one of the best around...Sep 29, 2011
By Matthias Lambert "Renaisance Dad"
My 2 and 4 year old love trains and the wooden railroad sytems provide hours of fun and problem solving for them building new layouts everyday, and it seems to teachthem teamwork as they are so young and usually at eachothers nerves, this brings them together. My son has been doing this for 2.5 years and my daughter recently took a liking so to differentiat her train we went with Rosie, she loves it and even talks to it. We have tried all the brands including BRIO $50+ engines and while the big red pulls better than Thomas he is too long to make turns and fit through some tunnel systems with turns, making it nearly impossible to complete a circuit. I have also had 2 of them just stop working. (side note I am really handy and have resoldered everything from Disney Cars shake-n-go to non branded battery toys with great success, I have maybe given up on 4 toys for repair. 2 of them BRIO engines). We have an original Thomas the blue engine battery operated from 4 years ago and my son abuses it daily he is still going and runs all the flat tracks with up to 6 cars, Rosie being new pulls 13 cars on flats and 5 up grades and arouns all turns. They all burn through batteries be perpared for daily changing regardless of automatic shut offs or kids leaving them running, it is a neccesary evil with these trains.

These are simple on/off switch and one screw battery changes. If you are looking at train engines for the wooden railways, these are great, simple no sound hard working and durable.

Rosie was delivered on a Thursday afternoon and about 4 hours later just completely quit working. Amazon exchanged and a new Rosie arrived this past Tuesday. This Rosie quit working today. My Three year old had fun while it lasted but the reliability/durability is horrible. Amazon is issuing a refund.

My 3 year old loves this train. It is so strong it pushes other trains along no problem.
This product is perfect and shipper was fast.

My grandson's love the Thomas trains. Battery operated makes it more fun. I only wish the wooden tracks for Thomas were made better.
