5I got to try this before you can buy it!Jun 19, 2010

This is different way to play the classic game of trivia. You get the chance to win a pie piece on every turn you take. And your friends get to bet chips on whether they think you are going to get the question right or wrong. To win, you are asked 1 question after you have received all 6 pie pieces. If you pay 15 chips you can pick the topic or the category. If you pay 30 chips you can pick both the topic and the category.

The differences in this game versus the classic game:
1. Betting

2. If you get the answer right, your turn is still over. (no more having 1 person or team run the whole game!)

3. Each card has a topic and then the 6 traditional categories (science, lit, entertainment, sports, geography, history). So for example, the topic is: Large Birds and then you have the categories: Science of Large Birds, Birds in literature, etc). You get to pick the topic that you want to be questioned on and then the color that you land on is the category.

4. The Buy It option - if you land on the Buy It or Roll Again space you can purchase a wedge piece for 10 chips. I thought it might happen more than it did - but we didn't land on it as much as I thought or we chose to conserve our chips for later.

5. Up to date questions - a nice mixture of questions that you can actually answer!

All in all - a great upgrade to the classic game. I would recommend it for any family gathering or game night!

4Combines trivia and bettingNov 10, 2010

Unlike the other reviewer, I had to buy my version of this game after it was released. I got it for $5.00 on another website (sorry Amazon). It's amazing how they keep reinventing the TP game, but I like this version. The betting adds a new twist to it and each of the cards now has a topic on it (like Birds or Cooking). Each card has six questions related to the topic in the traditional Genus categories, like History, Entertainment, Science & Nature, etc. A special card holder allows you to choose from one of four topics. Whether you get your question right or wrong, your turn ends and the next player goes. So no more one person monopolizing the game because they're super smart or just happen to get questions they know.

One more thing about the betting. If someone answers their question correctly, they get the chips of those who bet against them. Ah, revenge is sweet. You get 15 chips to start with and you can bet up to 10 chips per question. I made a rule that's not part of the original rules. You must bet at least one chip on each question. You can also buy wedges and topics with your chips. The first one to get all six wedges and correctly answer a game winning question is the champ.

This game went over big at the game convention I brought it to. All the slots were filled prior to the con. It's trivia with poker so to speak. It's fun, and the "one question per turn" rule keeps the game moving.

3Good and Bad PointsFeb 02, 2011

I bought this game for the holidays and, while we enjoyed the element of being able to bet on other people's knowledge (or lack thereof), the range of questions was rather odd and obscure. With too many obscure questions it can be less fun if hardly anyone can get anything right and can only win chips to be able to buy wedges.

This game turned out to be more of a question of how well you knew the other players than what you knew yourself. I'm not sure if being able to bet adds enough to the game to make the price worthwhile. One could just as easily get some poker chips, make up your own betting rule, and use previously released sets of questions.

The only other quibble that detracted from the game was that the cardboard holder for the cards didn't work very well (there was some fold inside that the cards kept catching on unless you put them in just so). We had to fight almost every time to get the cards to slide down inside and, eventually, this got very tiresome. By the end of the game, we were ready to just ditch the nifty card holder altogether.

5Trivial Pursuit Bet You Know It! - EDDec 26, 2011

My family has owned 2 versions of TP, and my Mother in Law has the Masters Ed. and let me just say that this was the BEST version I have EVER played. Way faster & way easier - you don't have to be an über brain to get these questions. The game feels like "final Jeopardy" meets Las Vegas with a whole lot of trivia and laughter thrown in. Fun for everyone. I typically never do well with TP games and with this edition I almost won.... almost... my wife is way smarter than I am (and she is standing over my shoulder as I write this). Highly Recommended.

5Great EditionJun 22, 2011

This is a fun new twist on Trivial Pursuit. I love the classic trivial pursuit where your knowledge is pitted against that of other players. In this one it pays to know the other players since you have to bet whether they know the answers or not. Adds a new edge to the game. If you know your friends but aren't as great at recalling random facts it's a great way to finally win a game of Trivial Pursuit!!
