Like the previous reviewer Cheryl, I also received the Talking "Lights and Sound" Percy instead of the Talking Railway Percy. Hopefully whomever listed this product will make the correction so people don't have to keep returning the product. I rated this 1 star since the product received is not as described.
Talking Railway Series
The actual engine does not talk. They can be easily identified with the gold magnetics (instead of the silver on all other series). Each engine has its own unique recognition technology chip. Talking Railway Series engines unlock special personalized greetings at Talking Railway Series Destinations. So you must have the Talking Railway destination(s) and Talking Railway engine(s) to get personalized greetings.
Talking "Lights and Sound" Series
The engine talks and the headlight comes on when you press a button.
Both of these are part of the Wooden Railway Series as they are made to be compatible with wooden tracks and the train itself is handmade out of wood. The listing clearly shows the Talking Railway series. It shows the gold magnets and the "Product Features" describes the engine recognition technology.

If I ever actually received this product I would be happy. However, I have twice been sent the Talking Percy, not the Talking Railway Percy. So maybe I'll write another review when I actally get what I want.

The Thomas DVDs, show and the stories keep my boy's attention glued to the TV screen. Add that to all the Thomas books and puzzles... I'm glad I purchased this little Percy train on Amazon. I will buy more through Amazon guaranteed.

I bought the Percy and Rosie trains as a gift for my twin niece and nephew who are 2 years old. This toy was way too small for them. I don't think this is suitable for a 2 year old. There are parts, such as the wheels that could be harmful should they come apart.
The trains are cute and well made and are now sitting on my TV set as decoration.
