| | | Description: | | A medium-sized engine. He likes to think of himself as a really splendid engine. This can occasionally lead to grandiose ideas about the sort of work suitable for such a noble creature, which invariably lands James in trouble | | | Product Details: | | | Product Length:

An excellent toyJan 21, 2008
By Austin This has been a great addition to my daughter's Thomas collection. She enjoys the bright red paint, and easily recognizes James while watching the Thomas DVD's.
Though it may seem odd to consider this an "educational" toy, I've used it when teaching my daughter her colors, numbers, as well as coordination.
Learning Curve has recalled all defective versions of this train, and so you should not be concerned with purchasing this or any other red (or yellow) train.
---Update--- My daughter has now had this for over a year now, and James is still one of her favorites. The quality of the train is as good as the day we bought it; Learning Curve's promise of quality has proven itself many times over.

James and his tender at a good price.Oct 21, 2008
By Pre-K and K Mom This was shipped in a timely manner and got exactly what I expected. If you order at least 3 engines, it's worth paying the shipping and getting the discount vs. buying it at a local retail store.

Nephew loves the trainMay 11, 2011

My nephew has a wooden Thomas the Train table and track set. After watching some Thomas videos on TV, he lamented that James was the one train he didn't have. It was kind of a big deal for him because red is his favorite color and James is the only one that comes in red. I got this as a just-because gift for him and put it on his Thomas table without telling him. It only took about five seconds for him to pick James out and it's now his favorite :)
As far as the lead recall on the red paint goes, that was back in 2007 and from what I've read online, it appears to be fixed so I'm not really overly worried about it. The train is made well because it's the wood version (don't buy the plastic ones, they are poor quality). This size is the popular standard size that goes on the wooden trestles and tracks.

By Cupid James is one of the classic trains in the Thomas collection, a must have! Yes, these trains are not cheap, but they are so DURABLE and well made! I expect these trains to last for at least another generation :)
