 The new Misty Island Rescue engineJan 27, 2011

I don't like the new logging locos from Misty Island Rescue much but my 3 year old does, so I thought I'd expand his set with Ferdinand. He's one of the three new engines introduced in the movie, and the most boring...all he ever says is "that's right".
But this isn't a gift for me of course and my 3 year old is having a great time with him. Interestingly though, he doesn't act out anything that happens to Ferdinand like he does with other engines. For example, with Diesel he acts out the unfinished bridge near-crash, complete with flatbeds falling into the sea below. But that's probably because there isn't much for him to act out - Ferdinand doesn't have a spotlight event that occurs in the movie nor in the newer television episodes.
It doesn't matter though, Ferdinand is getting lots of play time with his other, older engines.
For those looking to get one of the "main" (more well known) engines from Thomas and Friends, look for:
Thomas (every kid I know has 3 or 4 since Thomas comes with so many sets)
Percy
Edward
Henry
Gordon
James
Emily
Toby
As a side note, many people think that the Misty Island movie was created for the purpose of introducing a new set of Thomas toys and didn't have good story / characters. Certainly Ferdinand is a good example of this. But I give it 4 stars because it is a durable, fun toy that my son plays with.

My grandson is a Thomas lover and enjoys all of the wooden railway. He just enjoys having the train set and loves getting the new trains when they come out! He plays for hours with this set. Very good buy!

My son loves this train as he does all of the others in this series. We have them all, or at least most of them. Fair price too for a harder to find toy at Christmas.

It is great to add familliar NEW trains to the thomas fan!
The Misty Island Resue Movie was cute and hit at this house, so finding Ferdinand (and BAsh and Dash) were an even bigger hit for Xmas!

"Happy Grannie"
My granson was so excited to receive this train. It goes along with the many other Thomas and Friends trains that he has. I have bought other trains from this vendor and it's always a pleasant experience.
