Too big for bridgesAug 19, 2011

The Early Engineer trains fit on the standard wooden rail, but can't fit under overpasses or through the big bridge. That has frustrated my son so much that he doesn't use this James anymore. It is well made, but the difference in size is a problem. He has had the regular wooden trains since just before he was two and never had any trouble with them. I wouldn't bother with this Early Engineer series.

I purchased the Thomas toys as a birthday gift for my grandson and havn't given them to him to see his reaction. However, I anticipate that he will love them. I especially like the fact that they are wooden and therefore more sturdy and durable. Trains are always interesting to toddlers and I anticipate his enjoying them.

Our 2 year old grandson was absolutely elated to get James! Slowly but surely, he's collecting the different train cars to 'play' with Thomas. Having magnets on the front and back of each lets him be much more creative in his Sodor adventures!
