5Thames & Kosmos Chem SetJan 11, 2010
By Nannys Stuff "Happy Shopper"
We bought this chemistry set for our 11 year old grandson who is very interested in "how things work". There are sufficient basic experiments to keep him entertained for many hours and to teach him the basic principles he will use in later experiments in science class. He is currently studying at the 8th grade level in chemistry and the product, though a toy, kept his interest. I am very satisfied with our purchase.

4Chemistry Kit with 30 experimentsJan 07, 2009
By Mom in NY
Thames & Kosmos CHEM C500 I bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. He put a "Science Kit" on his wishlist and said he wanted to mix things and do experiments. This was perfect. It does need to be done with an adult as the vials are glass and it uses real acids and bases but nothing is dangerous. Great into for kids to learn to love Chemistry.

5Great little starter set!Nov 07, 2010

I asked my 8 yr old what he wanted to study next in science (we homeschool) and he said Chemistry. We found this kit and thought it was a reasonable price. Both my 8 & 10 year old boys are having fun as we work through the experiments in this kit. i got a few books on chemistry to go with it and we have science covered for this month! The Periodic Table: Elements with Style!Chemistry (DK Eyewitness Books)Basher: Chemistry: Getting a Big Reaction

4Good for a brief introduction...Jun 10, 2009
By Jarik25 "Jarik25"
This kit is C500, and it is good as an introduction to chemistry. However, the sad part is that experiments chemicals only last for the duration of the project. If you want to do them multiple times; you must buy multiple sets!

For kids, or adults just starting out learning the difficulties of Chemistry and its elements or way things work and won't go on after this: Go for this kit!

All expirements work if followed correctly. Some may work better for you if they are poured down a sink rather than followed out in a test tube.

5Hours of fun for both kidsMar 12, 2012
By Jerel Mcdonald "AZ Boy"
This kit is perfect for 7+ years with some supervision. We did all the experiments then the kids had most fun just making colors on their own. The electrical experiments were some of the most interesting. You can get a battery pack at Radio Shack to hold 8 AA batteries to give them a bit more oomph without any danger of shock.
