5For the Price, OUTSTANDING!Jan 04, 2011
By Pitter S. Chi
I went on a strange spending spree and bought myself a Traxxas Slash and this ElectrixRC Ruckus for my daughter. I wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be a very nice surprise with good performance and good fun. Only $130.

Pro's:
-Price (in between Toy Store R/C cars and higher end R/C cars)
-Performance for price, its pretty quick. Not super fast.
-Upgradeability for price (there is a 15T motor for more speed)
-Was able to find replacement parts at a local hobby shop
-Real shocks, tires, etc just like a high end car.
-Tools needed (except phillips screwdriver) are included
-Real 2 channel remote with reversable switches and steering and throttle trim.
-1/10 scale truck.

Cons:
-Most of those parts are mostly plastic. Already replaced two parts because we crashed into each other.
-The ESC (speed control unit) is stuck on using double sided tape. Higher end cars are screwed into the chassis.
-The radio distance isn't super far. I'd say around 60 yards (real world), maybe 75yards.

If you compare this to something you get at ToysRUs, this will blow away everything there.

If you compare this to a Traxxas, HPI, Losi, Associated, etc then you will be dissappointed. (But you won't get any of those for $130)

Overall, I'm happy with it and would buy it again.

5Best entry 1/10th truck.Jun 10, 2011
By Hector
Bought this as my 9 year old sons first "real" rc truck. I have been into RC for years and was surprised by how much RC truck you actually get for the price. I have a Emaxx, Slash, Mini-T, Lunch Box, Micro-T and a homemade crawler for myself and I have to confess that I find the Electrix Ruckus just as entertaining in it's own way. Power is tame but useful. It can climb a steep hill in my back yard, do burnouts, jumps and drifts. Balance is excellent for a monster truck. Instead of flipping over on hard turns on pavement it will do a slight drift. Suspension travel is great. Suspension settings are balanced well for both bashing and speeding. Top speed is about 15mph. Fast enough for a veteran like myself to do some casual bashing. Battery life is about 20 minutes with balls to the walls. The quality of the RC truck is above what you'd expect for a $129 rc truck but I would go so far as to say that the electronics are just as good as any expensive RC truck in the sense that the electronics handle just as you'd expect on any quality RC truck. In fact, if you could bump up the torque and speed alone it would feel exactly like an expensive RC truck. To explain this better, the only difference between this truck and others I have owned is the speed, torque and a few cosmetics. My son absolutely loves it and I am planning on buying a second one for me so I can race with my son on equal footing. I highly recommend this product.

!!!!!!!! UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!
Took my Traxxas Slash and Electrix Ruckus to a skatepark. Both trucks sustained damage, only the Ruckus survived. Both trucks were running 8.4v battery packs. The 8.4V battery turns the Ruckus into a monster (Cheap horsepower and the Ruckus ESC is rated for it). It ran as fast as my 1st Generation 2WD Slash (brushed). Both trucks are in stock form and factory geared. The Electrix held it's own until the motor's pinion gear came lose (easy fix). At first I thought it blew the differential but fortunately it was just a loose screw. It was an ugly scare nonetheless.
The Ruckus also blew a rear shock. Not surprising considering the jumps. This too was an easy fix though. The shock was not damaged, it only popped out enough to leak oil all over the skatepark (Ooops!).

Considering that my 9 year old was driving the Ruckus harder than I rode the Slash I have to say I'm rather pleased with the Ruckus. To avoid future scares from the Ruckus drivetrain I loosened the spur gear.

1Truck was DOAJun 19, 2011

Dead out of the box. Motor spins, but transmission fails to engage. Truck looks great, and was very easy to assemble, but nonetheless a very disappointing Father's Day.

5Pleased but with issuesMar 07, 2012

I bought my ruckus for my 23 birthday. I was looking for something to get me started in the rc hobby and this truck hasnt disappointed. First let me start by saying that the truck runs great although I did have some range issues but after a call to horizon hobby they upgraded me to a 2.4 Ghz transmitter and reciever system for FREE. So I have really no complaint there. I do recommend buying a bigger battery pack. I bought a racers edge 7.2 v 5000 maH and love it. I average about 20 min a run with the bigger pack which is much better than the 5 minutes I was getting with the 1800 maH pack it came with. Overall I would definatley say this truck is perfect for someone who is looking to get into the hobby or for an older child because while the truck isnt super fast it is definatley faster than what a young child needs.
