3Fun, but cheaply madeAug 24, 2010

My daughter (2.5 years old) loves this toy. She especially love the "making popcorn" function. She does not have the strength to operate the popcorn maker on her own, so it is a toy that we play with together. Also, the "candy making" part simply doesn't work (it falls apart when you try to push clay through it). I find it annoying that the toy is so large and therefore hard to store. I wish the "popcorn maker" were a separate item as that is the only reason we are keeping the toy at all.

3About what I expectedJul 22, 2010

This toy works really well if you have very fresh, new play doh. My kids loved it and played with it all afternoon the first day they had it, but within an hour or so the little arm you press down to make shapes through the interchangeable plate would pop off whenever they would try to use it. That would cause the little plate to come off and make it impossible to use that part of the toy. But it was a cheap toy, and the kids like it anyway.

1Poor product packagingNov 12, 2011

The product would have been fine but the box was already opened and it was missing the white play dough and some of the accessories to make the products. This should have been prevented before it was shipped. The box was in rough shape and looked used. Very disappointed since it was for a birthday present.

1Fun concept, low qualityMar 18, 2011

The idea is great, but the product is not well thought out, and doesn't work properly. The press for making fries and some other shapes does not work at all. It pops right off. The popcorn maker works somewhat. You can press the tube to get some "popcorn", but they come out stuck together, and the popcorn needs to be separated into individual pieces. Also, it's very difficult for a child to press the popcorn tube on their own. The only thing you're left with are some candy and ice cream molds. Not enough play value for a toy this size. The fact that a major component of this toy is defective is irresponsible of Hasbro.

1Worst of the Playdoh sets we've bought so farMar 21, 2012
By J. Lupo
In the past few months my wife and I have purchased quite a few playdoh sets because our 3 year old son loves it and will play with it for hours on end. We just got this today and found that the one star reviews were quite right. For some odd reason, this is the only set we have so far where the plunger mechanism is made in 3 pieces. There is the plunger piece, the piece the plunger connects to (which is the top of the chute where the dough goes) and then the base (which is the bottom of the chute). Every other one has the chute be a single piece of plastic. The way you press down on the plunger lever causes the top half to pop off all of the time. It is a very poor design.

The popcorn part isn't well designed either. As others have said, you just end up with a bunch of lumps that sort of look like popcorn that get mashed together. It isn't that hard to separate them, so it isn't terrible, but it isn't very intuitive for a 3 year old.

Overall, there are much better Playdoh sets out there. Skip this one and get one of those.
