Plain good old fun, modernizedDec 12, 2006

sure this doesn't make the popular clanking sound going down the stairs as the metal originals, but it still works well, and has been copied by many companies. I even have one with a business name on it. These fun, functional, and keep a kids imagination engaged. No noise or batteries needed. Buy someone you know this for a stocking stuffer this year.

Not just for peopleMar 21, 2009
By Russell Howser I can't find a plastic Slinky anywhere around here in stores. Ordered 2 more from here for my parrot, little Pacific Parrotlet. There was one in his cage when I bought him, wrapped through the bars at the top, and he has slept in that every single night I've had him. He sits in the end, grabs a "handful" of rings and perches there for the night. He also likes running back and forth through it, hanging upside down from the end, and jumping out the end to grab the bars of the cage (especially when it's bed time and he's not ready to sleep!). Needed one for his travel/backup cage and a spare one.

By M. Palmera I prefer the metal slinky, but this one was fine. You have to be gentle in handling it so it doesn't break. Good toy for kids.

Fun, But Metal One Is BetterFeb 26, 2009

The "Original Slinky" is one of the calssic toys I grew up with and made sure that my kids got to experiance as well. We bought our kids the "Plastic Slinky" one year and we were somewhat disapointed.
This platic version will walk down stairs (alone or in pairs :-), but doesn't make the "Slinkity" sound.
The real down side is that it will, sooner or later, get tangled up and will have to be thrown away... most likely to be replaced next Christmas (or insert gift giving day of your choice).

Therapeutic value -not just for funOct 07, 2008
By Linda Bos Great for young kids as expected but I use with teenagers to help them feel comfortable in a counseling/therapeutic setting. Takes off the pressure and adds an element of fun. Win-win
