Love Plan Toys, but not this banjoOct 11, 2008

This banjo is very cute, but it really doesn't make any music. The strings make a dull thump noise, but that's about it. My 1 and 2 year olds don't play with it at all. I was disappointed because we love our other Plan Toys.

DisappointedJan 31, 2009
By L. Tjemsland I ordered this for my son's birthday. He LOVES all stringed instruments and his grandpa plays a banjo. I really like the practices of Plan Toys and thought this was a really adorable, durable looking instrument. When it finally arrived (the shipping was delayed) I was suprised at how small the box was, expecting it to be bigger (its actually pretty tiny). I took it out of the box and it just looked dirty. The glue used to attach the membrane has seeped through leaving a nasty dark stain on what was supposed to be a bright pretty red face. But the biggest disappointment of all was that I had bought it almost exclusively on the merits of the "four tune-able strings". Now, maybe I'm crazy, but i just assumed that this meant that the banjo could be tuned to play actual notes... or a least something that sounds like a note... but all this does is thud. And a dinky little thud at that. No tuning. Nothing. Not quite sure what they meant. You can't even tighten the strings, they stay as they come. I was really sad. I returned it.

Little Tou BanjoDec 11, 2007
By K. Johnson My son has CP. and he loves watch his Daddy play his banjo, at times he'll let Patrick strum the strings and in doing so Patrick get excided as well as having to use fine motor skills which is so hard from him.
Patrick also has a hard time holding on to things but the little banjo is built in such a way that he's able to hold it.
Now when his daddy is playing his banjo Patrick is making noise right along with him with his little banjo.
That little toy banjo brings him as well as us such joy.

cute toyJan 11, 2009
By carmen I had other toys by "Plan toys" and I really like them, but I was disappointed with the banjo, I was hoping for a better sound, something closer to a real instrument..I guess it's just a toy, cute and well done but just a toy.

SUPER SUPER DURABLEMay 15, 2011

This is a commercial grade banjo, let me tell you. My son pulls the strings into one slot constantly and they are still very taut. It doesn't really make any good music at all as there is no hole, but it shows him good form in holding it and he plucks along like a dying chicken. We have had this toy for almost a year and it has taken some serious abuse. if it sounded better I would have given it five stars.
