 Fun Auto Mechanic Play SetDec 11, 2007

I did not buy this for use as a toy but to use on a birthday cake for my auto mechanic brother. It was a huge success and was the perfect decoration for the occasion. I recommend other themed playsets as decorations for similar occasions.

As stated in the previous review I also used this to decorate a cake for my husband who's an avid kayaker. It was a huge hit!!!! The toy was very well constructed and looked great on the cake. I highly suggest any of the Mighty World playsets for decorating or playing!

For my husband's 50th, I got him a bunch of adventurous, experiential gifts (a helicopter flying lesson, kayak trip to a castle island, etc). I wanted him to have something to open on his birthday, so I purchased small toys that I could wrap (a helicopter, a kayak, etc.), so this was the kayak toy I purchased. My husband is a firearms instructor, so I was drawn to this particular kayak toy set because of the handgun in the picture (my plan was to put Mr. Kayak man in the kayak with just the gun, for comedic effect). Well, there were lots of other kayak-man props included, but the handgun was not one of them. My only guess is that this speaks to the increasingly overly sensitive societal response to children playing with guns (based, by the way, on pure emotion and nothing statistical). So, because I purchased this set mostly FOR the handgun feature, I had to keep the star-rating low. I fully understand that this review will likely not be helpful to anyone except a) those with a similarly creative adult-gift giving idea and/or b) those with children or buying a gift for children who buy into the myth that playing with guns as a child results in sociopathic or terroristic behavior as a teen or an adult.
