the 1st Melissa and Doug dudJan 04, 2010
By vcpny I have to start by saying that ordinarily I LOVE Melissa and Doug products. However ... this toy is a joke. It broke the 1st time it was used (Melissa & Doug replaced the faulty part, thank you!) When the new one arrived, it has zero play value ... it doesn't do what it should. The base is too narrow so the paint never gets enough momentum to actually spin and make some cool art. It just blobs there and doesn't make anything interesting to look at. The paper constantly comes out of the holder, and to really make things worse ... the paint isn't washable and ruined my favorite pair of Hanna Andersson pajamas ... the stains won't come out for ANYTHING. I can't recommend this at all. I'd send you mine if you still want to try it, but I don't want it cluttering up my house for that much longer. A total disappointment.

Spin Art with little SpinJul 04, 2010
By B. Courneya It doesn't spin fast enough to create the pictures shown. I did not think it was a good value. My grandchildren (age 3 & 4) were unable to handle it. I had one of these when I was a child that worked on batteries and will look for that one again so it has more spin.

Too cool!Nov 25, 2011
By Cheryl S I don't know who likes this more - me or my 3 and 5 year old! It is so much fun. We made holiday shapes and spun them and then put glitter on them for homemade holiday cards from the kids. It is definitely easier for older kids to handle, but 3 year olds can do this. Totally fun for crafty people!

Great fun, great resultsAug 10, 2011
By Laurie2Amazon We love this -- the colors are vivid and the spinning is fun. Because the kids control the spin/speed, it's almost a science experiment in cause/effect. And no batteries to die on us!

Spun Fun!Apr 04, 2011
By Cold Milk This product has been getting bad reviews, but I think it's mainly "user error." I have one, and gave one to my sister. We both think that it has been a great toy for our kids. We have way too many toys that eat up batteries, so the fact that it is hand operated is a plus. However, as with many crafts for young children, adult assistance is necessary. You get better results if you make sure the paint is added during the spinning. Therefore, I found it easiest to do the spinning while my kids squirt in the paint. The paint stays in the tub, which is very easy to clean. It's surprisingly not messy, as long as there are no accidents (i.e. child misses the tub). I just rinse it out as soon as we're done. It is definitely not a toy that I would expect a child to play without an adult helping. My 2 and 4 year old really enjoy this. My 5 year old niece enjoys hers so much that her grandma bought her more paint! It's great for creative children!
