Fun but no fun to store itAug 20, 2011
By ams This is a fun toy but why oh why didn't they make the carton large enough to fit at least all of the ice cream/cones? I can understand not being able to store the scoopers in there but I can't get all of the ice cream and cones in and close the lid so it makes for a not-so-fun toy to store. The pieces are always scattered.

Ice cream please!Nov 25, 2011
By Cjnzii This ice cream set is fantastic, my two year old loves serving us up ice cream from her little play kitchen and the magnetic scoops encourage fine motor skills, it's an all round winner, very durable and appealing to toddlers.

Girls love it, magnets could be strongerDec 27, 2011

"more of myself after winter"
I got this for my 3 1/2yo twins for Christmas and they LOVE it. I went with this set over the "deluxe" because it was cheaper but the core pieces are, as far as I can tell, the same. If you pay more you get the wooden box which stores everything, but I thought they'd get a kick out of keeping the ice cream in the carton in their toy freezer, and the other stuff somewhere else - it seemed more realistic. Then I thought, we can keep the ice cream in the carton, and the carton and everything else in the box, and the whole thing in the freezer - but the box doesn't fit in their freezer (KidKraft wooden kitchen). So have to figure out arrangements, not a huge deal.
Other than the outer box being cardboard, I love how sturdy everything is. The ice cream carton is sturdy plastic, I was afraid it might break easily before it arrived but it's quite sturdy. I wouldn't stand on it but it should hold up to play. The pick-up mechanism of the scoopers works great and it's easy to plop the ice cream on the cones. It's super cute and very real looking. My only real complaint is the magnets could be a little stronger. The scoops come off a tad too easily - and pretending to lick them is pretty difficult. But my girls are having a ton of fun with this. We will have to get the banana split set to add to it. Definitely a winner of a toy IMO.

Best ice cream set out thereDec 27, 2011
By Jeannetteoc After looking at a couple of sets I decided on this one. My 2 year old loves it! Really, she does! She walks with it all over the house giving different flavors to everyone. It has 2 cones, and 4 scoops (strawberry, chocolate, pistachio and vanilla). They look so real you almost want to eat them! You can't store everything in the carton, only the scoops and maybe one cone, but I haven't really seen many sets including a carton or looking this real, so it doesn't bother me. The scoops are held magnetically to the spoons (2 included) and you can unlock them by pressing the handle ( but even if your kid can't it's not a problem cause the cone also has a Magnet and it pulls it ). I highly recommend this set!

All of my kids like to play with this toyNov 26, 2011
By HardWorkingMom My three boys range in age from two to nine and they all like to play with this toy. Our set came with a little different packaging, and I think I prefer the new packaging. Teaches colors and helps with dexterity by "scooping" the ice cream and balancing it (pieces connect magnetically). Even though there are multiple pieces, I don't mind because they are large enough to clean up easily and it stores neatly. Great for imaginative play, although using it always puts the boys in the mood for ice cream...
