Well, initially it is a very cute puppet. If we would have known the size of your hand was an issue we would have chosen some other puppet. For us my husband has big hands so he couldn't get his hand up the neck so there's no using it unless it's someone with a smaller arm and hand. He is the one that wanted to purchase it and use it for my grandchild so for us it's a disappointment. Also the hair comes out so we can't let her grab it to play with it.

Unfortunately, I purchased the M&D tiger puppet at the same time that I got this. I say unfortunately because this puppet pales in comparison. It's great fun, it's very cute, but it feels a little cheap, and it arrived a little squished. The only furry parts the mane, the tops of the horns, and the ears. The rest is synthetic material. It's just not very lovable or cuddly. If you are an adult and thinking of getting this to entertain your kids, look elsewhere. I do not have particularly large hands, but I couldn't get my fingers all the way up to his nose.
On the other hand (har har) my daughter love giraffes and adores the thing. If the animal doesn't matter, look at some of the other M&D puppets.
