Great BargainNov 03, 2009

I have the boy version which is grey instead of pink, but other than the color of the house, furniture and dolls, it is the same thing. We bought this for my son for his 4th birthday, after seeing one on display at the local toy store. He hasn't yet played with it,as his birthday is not for one more week, but I have opened the box, and looked at all the peices and they are very well made. I let my 7 yr old daughter play with it before I re wrapped it up, and she thought it was wonderful. I love that it is so small, and portable. My son tends to like to play mostly in the living room, and I didnt want some giant thing that would be confined to his bedroom b/c of its size, and left unplayed with. If he really gets in to it , I would consider a larger one in the future, but I think for a four year old this is a perfect size, and price. Also, the larger castles don't tend to come with any people or furniture. I liked that for such a low price, this castle comes with four people,2 horses, plus furntiture. The people, and horses alone I believe are sold seperately for $ [...]. I also appreciate that this toy doesn't not make any sounds, and does not light up. It does have a drawbridge door that works, as well as a jail that has a door which goes up and down. I think this will encourage my son to use his imagination.

4 year old daughter enjoying the fold and goJan 09, 2010

"santa" got this for my daughter this year. note to self, take off "melissa and doug" sticker before giving to your kid if santa's elves made it. anyway, it's nice and compact, pretty well made, a standard melissa and doug type toy. i like it because it's not crappy plastic. also, our house is small so it's nice that it folds into the size of a small box. it came with a couple pieces of furniture and i also bought the people to go with it with some extra furniture. it all crams in there but i have to help my daughter get it in because it's sort of like a puzzle to get everything in and get it closed.
my one complaint is that it's actually a little hard to play with, since it's so small, it's hard for the toy people to be in any of the spaces, if that makes any sense. like, one person fits in one room. it's just...small. so, that's good and bad. it looks cute, and some of her other tiny polly pocket and princess dolls can be part of the royal community as well. if you have the space, i'd go for the bigger one. if you don't, this one is ok.

Added a castle to my girl's collectionFeb 01, 2010
By Lilah I added this castle to the collection of Melissa and Doug fold and go toys and my granddaughter's love it. They now have the barn, farmhouse and a castle. They set all these up in my recroom and play for hours. I have been buying these toys for the last several years and have never been disappointed in the quality.Melissa and Doug Fold and Go Princess Castle

Not impressedJan 09, 2010

I was going to buy the Disney Princess Magic Castle but instead opted for this one because of bad reviews on the other one and good ones on this one. This one did not turn out any better. It was packaged in perfect condition but while I was helping my daughter unwrap the castle I was taking off the paper that is wrapped around it and the castle immediately broke down the seam where it opens up. I wasn't even pulling hard! So I let my daughter play with it anyway...just kind of placed it together so none of the wood could hurt her. She's playing with it not even ten minutes and one of the stairs broke! She doesn't even play rough! Needless to say we had to glue everything back together but I'm very disappointed in this product---definitely not what I was expecting.

Great castleAug 10, 2010
By L. Messing This is the third castle toy we've gotten. So far we have their bigger castle. We have the Disney Princess Castle. And this one. Of the three, it's the Melissa and Doug castles that are played with the most. They're more durable and stand up to the hard use of kids better. Buy this. If you don't buy this one, than get one of their other castles. This is one of our better purchases.
