Great Price, Disappointing Log DistributionAug 18, 2009
By Mom22Gifts My children received this item for Christmas last year. Compared to Lincoln logs, the price can't be beat. The major disappointment that I have is that, of the 300 pieces, 193 of the pieces are the small, single notch, logs. There are only 4 long, three notch, logs and 4 long roof slats. Total there are only 6 roof supports. I wouldn't mind this so much of there were add-on packs that allowed you to buy more of the pieces you need (i.e. roof packs or long logs); however the way it is, one must buy an entire additional set with again, a disproportionate number of small logs. I do like the quality of the item, just disappointed in the distribution of the pieces.

Absolutly Fantastic Toy, Great Value!Mar 22, 2008
By Mom On A Budget These Tumble Tree Timbers are wonderful! They are absolutly just as good as Lincoln Logs and work perfectly with any Lincoln Log set, except they cost a fraction of the price! I dont' know why anyone would even waste their money on Lincoln Logs, you get SO many more of these for a much less price. The ONLY difference is that the color of the wood on these is a different shade of wood than the lincoln logs, so if you are mixing sets you should know there is a color difference. Other than that they are a magnificant toy, and a a great value. I wish I would have known about these before I wasted my money the first set we have of Lincoln Logs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this toy!!!

Basic Toys are Better!Sep 06, 2007

My grandchildren can spend hours building cabins and forts, little towns and farms and ranches with these building blocks. We bought 450 pieces a few years ago, but with three boys, 450 pieces wasn't enough so while they were staying with us for a week, we needed another set. Amazon had the blocks, and got them to us in two days. The boys covered one whole area of the living room with a marvelously constructed fort with multiple buildings, fences, towers, corrals and gates. No batteries, no plastic parts to break, no aggravating electronic noises. Just imagination, hand dexterity, and hours of fun.

Probably at least as good as the originalOct 02, 2009
By Lisa and Naomi's mom If there was a comparable original Lincoln Log set we probably would have bought that instead but this set seemed more open-ended for the following reasons:
1. MORE pieces for a total of 300
2. slats vs half-logs for roofing/fencing/walks/balconies/benches
3. no plastic fixed-size roofing
4. no marketing logos that imply orientation
From an educational standpoint there are some serious mental acrobatics required to build in windows and doorways, plan for roofing etc. The pieces are so light and easy to fit together that even the youngest, gentlest child is unlikely to get too frustrated. There are a few slat grooves that are a bit snug but it's not necessary to jam a slat all the way in for structural integrity.
Unlike other building sets, you can't really carry your creations with you. That's fine since what can be better than tearing down and trying something new?
Lastly, there's a warning about staining carpets but we haven't seen that yet and we try to keep toys and food separate.

NO PACKAGINGNov 17, 2008
By Cynthia M. Waters I am sure this product is fine, but it is for a gift and it comes in plastic shipping bags...no container, tin, or box...that should be clearly stated in the ad...I can't give this as a gift...it would be fine if it was for my own children, but not as a gift! Unfortunately I will be returning this item.
