Another fun Lego gameSep 25, 2010
By Bookphile We bought this game along with Lego Magikus, and we were eager to play each. Even though the games are both Lego products, they are quite different, so having played one doesn't make you feel like the second is just a rehash.
The first time you play the game, you have the assemble the robot torsos and their body parts (heads, arms, legs). The game contains two booklets, one with rules for play and the other with instructions on robot building, along with all of the pieces you'll need. With my husband's help, my six-year-old put the little robots together. It was a little complicated for her because some of the parts are very tiny and proved a bit of a challenge for her motor skills, but she enjoyed assembling the robots, as did we. The robots themselves are very cute.
Quite possibly my daughter's favorite part of the game is the customizable, changeable die. She likes to take the pieces off and reassemble the die in a new pattern and, I have to admit, I'm pretty fascinated by this as well. The game is for three players (although the rule book notes that you can use your own Lego pieces to assemble a yellow robot and expand the gameplay to a fourth person), and each one selects a torso to begin the game. Taking turns rolling the die, you pick up various parts for your or another player's robots, swap the parts, etc. Whoever gets all of the parts of their robot first can assemble their robot and become the Robo Champ, complete with a Lego-style trophy for your robot to hold.
One of the big selling points of these games, though, is that they are customizable. The rule book contains suggested alternate rules for play and encourages you to come up with rules of your own and even post them online for others to see. I like the idea that the game encourages some out-of-the-box thinking, and that it really makes the game each child's own. Gameplay is also quick, so this is an ideal game for when you don't have a lot of time. We really love this product and are eager to buy more Lego games.

Great game to play with kids...Oct 02, 2010
By Steven Harper LEGO has done it again! The LEGO: Games series has produced another family hit with this game. While the parts included only account for three players, the rules and game play will easily allow for you to create up to six players at the most by making your own robots. As with every game I have played so far in LEGO: Games series, it is very family friendly and encourages you to expand the game a lot. The game itself provides you with basic rules that little kids can understand, but gives enough room to create your own rules and make the game more complicated or easier depending on who is playing. "A+ Great-Buy " for a family with kids!

Great game for kids & familiesDec 01, 2010

"mom of boys"
My boys, 4 years & 6 years, love this game. It is easy enough that the 4 year old can play with no help. It reminds me of the build a caterpillar game I had as a child.
Downside is that the game is only for 3 people as it comes. We've fixed that by creating our own robots from our lego stash. As long as they match the color on the dice (which you could also customize w/ your own lego pieces) it is easy to expand.

By Jen my almost-5-yr-old (an early Lego addict) can't stop playing with these parts. he keeps rearranging the arms, legs, and heads into different combinations. we've played the game a couple times, too. it's similar to the classic Cootie game, with the twist of being able to swap and grab parts from other players. the game is pure chance until the "scrap heap" runs out of your color of parts, and then you have to think how to trade in order to win. games take less than 10 minutes to play--perfect for his attention span. if you have a large stash of Legos, you'd find most of these parts in your collection, which is good in case you lose anything. to take the game to the next level and allow another person to play, you could build a robot from your own collection and add its parts to the "scrap heap."

Lego Robo ChampJan 01, 2011
By Sheila I bought this for a 7yr old grandson who loves both Lego, and robots. He easily put the three little robot figures together, although the pieces are very small and fiddly and will undoubtedly be easy to lose. He had not actually played the game by the time I left, but it looks simple and straightforward. Wouldn't hold the interest of much older children I wouldn't think.
