It's the right type of toy for the right type of kidJul 31, 2010
By Danielle Robinson My son received this for his 5th birthday and he loves it. I have read other reviews that say that it is too advanced for a 5 year old. It is only too advanced if your child has never put block models together with instructions. Our son is a building nut and he was through with all the TRIO blocks sets and wanted something else. He can follow the directions that are included easily with minimal help. Sometimes he needs help clicking the smaller pieces together, but otherwise he plays with this for hours at a stretch. Also, for all of these sets, you can go online to [...] and download complete instructions for all 20 dinosaurs shown on the box. You simply put in the code found in the pamphlet that comes with the toy. We had our son start with the easier models (one star) and then move on to the more challenging ones (three stars). We couldn't be happier with it.

Flimsy parts, unlike other k'nex kitsNov 19, 2009
By RR This is a lower quality k'nex kit, in my opinion. It's hard to keep the parts assembled, so younsters will find it frustrating. Stick with the original k'nex kits that are of higher quality and much easier to assemble.

Not PleasedFeb 04, 2010

My boys have loved K'nex in the past. We have bought different types of sets, the ferris wheel for older children and a couple of the preschool age boxes as well. We have loved them all. This one is terrible. None of the pieces hold together, it is very frustrating to try and build them. Plus the other K'nex kits we have bought have had detailed instructions on how to build different types of things. This one gives details for two dinosaurs and the rest are just pictured so you have to try and guess which pieces make that dinosaur. We haved loved other ones but I am very displeased with this K'nex product.

Beware: None of the pieces stay togetherFeb 21, 2011
By drobson This product was a great disappointment...None of the pieces stayed together. I have found this with other K'nex products as well so buyer beware. My kids were so frustrated with the "pathetic" product that they are no longer purchased in our home. The Monster Jam micro trucks were worse, and the Motobots were just as bad.

big disappointmentFeb 22, 2010
By Proud Parent My son got this for his birthday because he loves dinosaurs. We have other Knex kits so thought the subject matter of dinos would appeal to him. What a waste of money! Like another reviewer states, they give you directions for 2 dinos and the rest you have to figure out for yourself. Once together it falls apart so easily, defiantely not a durable toy. My kids lost interest in this set the first day after seeing how hard it is to make them. My advice would be to get the older Knex sets which are much more durable and less likely to frustrate kids. Either that or to buy lego sets.
