I purchased this for my eight year old after he had been watching (and dreaming about) youtube videos of different coasters for weeks. He was obsessed with them and this was his favorite. It took a while to assemble and was a bit of a challenge--on of the resons we like these toys--but he finally got it figured out and has watched the coasters spin for a couple of weeks now. The toy has held up well and we are very happy with our purchase.

I was surprised to see there were a couple of negative reviews for this coaster. But after reading them, I see it's the parents who are complaining about having to build it! My son is 8, and has already built 2 other K'Nex coasters by himself. He only needed help getting the moving rubber track in place, but the building of the coaster is no harder than any Lego set he's ever built. And the fact that these are less expensive AND have motorized parts makes it a great toy. If your child is a good builder and can follow the instruction booklet, he'll have no problems.

I've put together lego sets that have taken over 6 hours before so I'm not new to this type of toy. Last year we bought the kinex ferris wheel and it took about an hour or so to put together. This toy took over 5 hours to put together! I bought it for my son for Christmas. He loves it! I will also let you in on the fact that some of the directions are flat out wrong. Does it work? Yes. But if you don't have the patience to spend 5 hours or more putting it together. I wouldn't recommend buying it. It says for children 9+. I just don't see it happening. Just my honest opinion.

My son really wanted this so I got it for him as a gift. I knew I should not have, but I did. It has a million parts, tiny ones. The directions are not good at all. This thing is a big pain.
