Fun and my 3 yr old loves these toys. The only complaint I have is that the animals do not stand up too well on their own and they could have put a few more fence pieces in there so you can make a little fenced in area that will hold all the animals. The included fence will only hold one cow. haha. Regardless, my 3 yr old loves it.

Great buy for Grandma's HouseSep 19, 2010

I purchased this for something fun to do at "Grandma's House". This is a great buy because there is plenty to play with and we had no fights! Each grandson played with one of the "farmers". With having several pieces, each one could have a tractor or something to play with. One suggestion would be to have more gates.

I ordered this as a Christmas gift from Amazon.com for a 3 year old. When I saw how cute and colorful it is, I ordered a second one for another 3 year old. There are lots of cute pieces that allows for fun play with other kids involved. It's a great change from the three-headed monsters that would eat the included chicken instead letting the kids use their imagination while driving the tractors and taking care of the farm animals. It's durable plastic, bright and the kids liked it. What more could you ask for at such a reasonable price!! Oh, and the service at Amazon.com was super.

My son saw this set at a local store and fell in love with it, so I bought it thinking something with the John Deere name on it would at least be somewhat durable. Wrong. After 10 minutes of normal play a large piece of the tractor snapped off. I called John Deere and they essentially told me it was not their problem. Horrible customer service. Don't waste your money.

John Deere's "Fun On The Farm Playset" is a wonderful toy for those toddlers who are fascinated by animals or tractors. In addition to the farm animals and two farmers, this set includes four realistic John Deere farm implements, two wagons which can be pulled by the "motorized" vehicles, and cargo to load in the wagons. A small piece of fencing is included, but since the toddler who visits our house uses the entire living room as his farm property, it is an afterthought during play. As a grandparent, I particularly liked the number of pieces that were included for one cost; it proved to be more economical than purchasing the different items or similar ones separately.
The variety of equipment and additional pieces provide multiple opportunities for imaginative scenarios and creative play. The two farmers sit firmly in any of the four farm implements because of the protruding piece which each figure and animal has on the base. The protrusions make it difficult to get the animals to stand; we used a belt sander to smooth them off so the base was flat. That solved the problem of unstable animals and greatly improved the animals' useability for play.
The plastic farm equipment is a rigid plastic; it is sturdy, but could probably be broken if played with roughly or thrown onto a hard floor. All seams are smooth and there were no rough edges on any of the pieces in the "Fun On The Farm Playset" that might injure a toddler.
When your child's "Fun On The Farm Playset" arrives, you will find the pieces are very firmly attached to the sturdy box. You may need wire cutters or old scissors to cut the wires and free the pieces. Only the three pieces of cargo (hay, apples/tomatoes, and rock) are so small that they might become lodged in a little one's throat. I would probably withhold those pieces from children at the bottom of the recommended age range.
The John Deere "Fun On The Farm Playset" is a wonderful toy for your child or grandchild. It is a 5-star item in this Grandma's opinion. You may want to do a web search as John Deere occasionally puts this set on sale.
