3Good for travelAug 04, 2007

Just bought this for my almost-4-year-old as diversion on a long trip - flight from CA to MI, drive from MI to PA, and then the reverse. He loves the big version and I hoped he'd like this little one.

He does find it entertaining. I think it was best as a back seat car toy - something he could easily hold and play with on his own. As an airplane toy, I actually worried it would be too noisy and annoy other passengers so I only let him play with it on the Detroit to Grand Rapids leg of our trip when we were in the butt of a DC-9 (if you've ever been in the butt of a DC-9 you know nothing is too noisy for that sort of flight)

The little plastic balls are kind of jumpy and not super easy to catch and I really wouldn't call this a 2 person game - I only have one child but when he is with a friend they will take turns with it rather that play together. It's so small and you need to constantly tilt the game this way and that to make it work right, as opposed to laying it flat like the big version.

All in all it's not the best toy out there but my son really got a kick out of it on our trip so I do suggest it for preschoolers on a trip. It was about half the price of this in a certain large toy store, though, so don't get it on line here. Not worth this price, definitely worth the reduced price. You may want more than one if you have more than one kid.

3Fun and portableNov 16, 2010

I loved this as a kid, still like it now as an adult. Read the reviews about the flimsy quality and it isn't as well made as I would like BUT we didn't have any problems using it, and it is still working 9 months after purchase. It is fun and is small enough for car or plane.

It has no educational value that I could determine.

5Fun game without hassleNov 16, 2010

This is a great version of hungry hungry hippos, just smaller and compact. You don't have to put it together, the kids can just play it right out of the box.

1A piece of junk!Jan 15, 2009

I bought this game for my 6 year old niece. It broke within an hour of her playing with it. ( She's not a kid who plays rough with her toys, either.) Actually, the heads of both hippos came off, and could be put on again. But the heads come off again as you play with it. At least I didn't buy the full-sized game!

4Fun portable travel toy but one hippo didn't workApr 03, 2012
By Mama from PA
This is a nice compact travel game. My son loves to play with this but it was not too durable. One hippo didn't work anymore and cannot get the balls as quickly as the other hippo so there was always an unfair advantage when playing with this game if one hippo is not working.
