I have eleven month old twins who are crazy over this toy. Really crazy. They love using the animal ends with their busy blocks as well, which just happen to be a perfect fit. They have loads of great toys, but keep going back to these little guys. I'm not real sure if the bigger set is needed, as they can only hold two sections at a time anyhow.
Very durable + waterproof.

I searched EVERYWHERE for safe refrigerator magnets for my 10 month old. He is obsessed with playing with magnets. Everything is either too small, has exposed magnets, made in China of questionable materials, or will disintegrate if baby chews on it.
These are made in Switzerland, too large to fit in baby's mouth (and perfectly sized for his little hands), water safe and the animals are rubber, not plastic, so safe for teething. I'll try to remember to come back and update my opinion on the durability after we've had them a while, but they seem pretty sturdy.
The best part, which I didn't see mentioned in any reviews, they stick to my fridge! I was afraid they would be too weak - and you do have to have the magnet "just so" in the animal part or it slides down the fridge - but it works and it keeps him busy while I cook! Also, the animals are really cute and this toy will be good for matching games and learning animal names and noises. I think he'll play with this for several years.
I only got this small set to see if we liked them, but now I am going to get the bigger farm set and probably the sea set, too. I really wish Geomag would make alphabet magnets for babies.

My 10 month old son loves these! They are the perfect size that he can wrap his hands around them and hold them with ease. He loves pulling them apart and putting them back together again. He's also teething so he does love to gnaw on them as well. I was skeptical of these toys at first but I thought I'd give them a try. I am sure glad that I did!

My son is 15 months old,and has not really picked this toy up since he got it on christmas.Not sure it is worth getting.Maybe he is not old enough yet,but at this point he is not interested.
