4One Star Off of the Real ThingAug 26, 2011
By Gayla M. Collins
I received this in the mail and I was so delighted upon opening the box. A larger sized(at least the size of my real life Shih Tzu) white puppy greeted me with the softest fur and happy face. With the aid of 4-C batteries this precious puppy can bark,(but not shrill-like or over long)move her head and wag her tail without seeming too robotic. If you tickle her chin she reacts by asking for more.(Just like my Bailee) She does sweet puppy cooing and chews on her bone.(okay, this was a little less genuine but just think of the baby dolls that suck a bottle.) I will be the most favored Grammy, Auntie and Lady as well as a hero to my live puppy; Bailee tires of being hounded by little hands. *smile* I find the toy irresistible so imagine how a child will feel?

I see this as a gift for a child who wants the real dog but their families can't devote time to this huge undertaking. I bought my niece(6 years old at the time) a toy kitty that was similar, and though the mechanics eventually wore out, she still sleeps with it.(she is 24 so don't tell her I said anything) All gift givers searching for that perfect birthday or holiday present should give this a gander. Long after the barking and tricks there will be the comforting hugs from your first puppy of childhood.

4So you have a barking box...here's where the switch is.Dec 11, 2011
By TPrime
My lovely daughter wanted a puppy...everyone is alergic...but that is another story.
The dog is adorable...and LOUD, it whines and cries and barks. Cute in the store, not so much when you are trying to sneak past inquisitive kids with a box that I was sure would summon the local ASPCA

Trying to sneak this thing in the house is near impossible, so I share a bit of hard won wisdom.
open the end by carefully removing the tag on the tail side. Then slide your hand in to the base of the belly and tightly in between the bottom of the box and the furry belly you can feel the switch, slide it over. and Voila the magic of Santa lives on, and that huge box is just another box.

Not a poor trapped animal which causes concern by animal lovers and stares of concern from your loving wife who thinks you actually bought a real dog.

But I have to admit...it's adorable...and strangely hypoalergenic.

Happy Holidays!

4Two thumbs up from the (6yo) birthday girl!Sep 14, 2011
By Kimmy in Valencia
I received this as part of the Vine program. I decided to give this to a friend and her 6 year old who just had a birthday.

From the giving perspective, $60 is very steep. But I can see how this interactive dog can really help transition a young one from toy dog to the real thing (or at least put off the whining to get the real thing).

I was really surprised by how large the dog is. I thought it would be the size of those little white dogs you see barking and rolling in front of mall toy stores. This dog is at least 3x the size. It was way bigger than my 5lb Maltese!

Here's what the birthday girl's mom had to say:
She would give Cookie the dog 5 stars. Her favorite thing is the dog crunching on the doggie bone. It took a little practice to get the "command" right but I have to admit it is pretty cool. She doesn't turn on the toy as often as she'd like because she knows she needs to reserve the batteries. As a parent, I'd give it 4 stars because of the hefty 4 C battery requirement. Also, when we were at Babies R Us over the weekend, they had a Cookie dog on the shelf and it retails for $59.99! Holy crap! I don't know if I'd ever purchase an animatronic child's toy for $60 but it definitely is the current favorite toy! She sleeps with it every night.

I think this is a perfect give for the extravagant grandparent, aunt or uncle to make a lasting impression.

Btw, I saw this at my local Costco for under $50.

1Did not work at all - brand new out of the boxDec 31, 2011
By Spud
I bought it brand new from Walmart and it did not work right out of the box. Replaced batteries, and followed troubleshoot instructions and the dog still does nothing at all. I'm extremely disappointed in this product and so was my 5yr old daughter when even daddy couldn't make it work. I wont be buying another Furreal product again... I hate the hassle of returning it and then digging through the ridiculous amount of packaging to get at this cheaply made toy to be disappointed again.

4Good realistic toy.Dec 14, 2011
By colorado mom
I purchased this dog for my daughter. So far seems like a good toy for the money. I don't know why Amazon is pricing it so high; it's not worth $60. Purchased mine at Target who has them on sale for $35. Only problem is that the dog is very sensitive and loud and does consume a lot of batteries but my daughter loves it.
