4Ferrdinand: the Loggin LocoFeb 09, 2011
By Jacqueline Woodley
Ferdinand is plenty of fun for my now 3 yr old. He has twin bothers Bash and Dash and we have all 3 trains along with the Misty Island Rescue Station. It's a take and play set so, we take it and it's played with. He recieved it for his 3re B-day and has hours of fun with it. His imangination is infinite and he does learn with his Thomas video's and applies it to life. This is good Stuff...
a loving mom...

5Pair Ferdinand up with the rest of the "Logging Locos"!Aug 21, 2011
By Grandma Zizzy
Prior to going into detail about Ferdinand, a little of our own "Thomas" history... As first time grandparents, my husband and I wanted to start some type of collection for our grandson that he could possibly pass along to his own kids one day. Our grandson was 2 1/2 at the time, and had been talking a lot about a certain train named Thomas (a little fella whom - now seems hard to believe! - we'd never heard of.) After doing some research, it seemed the Take-n-Play line might be the perfect investment to engage and encourage his imagination, as well as provide a fun way for us to interact with him. What a rewarding decision... we've had SO much fun together with this quality line of trains, vehicles and playsets! As he approaches 4, a large portion of our basement has become a wonderful Sodor land of make believe that we all enjoy visiting - and continues to hold his interest, which is quite a feat given the tendency at that age to move in and out of toy phases so quickly!

Ferdinand is one of the three "Logging Locos" (along with Bash & Dash) who first appeared in 2010's Misty Island Rescue movie! Definitely a "gentle giant", Ferdinand is bigger and slower than his two co-workers, and can make special "tweeting" sounds with his whistles. All of the other engines that have tenders carry coal, but Ferdinand runs on wood and oil, and his tender is full of wood chips! (However, my grandson insists that they are chocolate chips!) Painted an attractive teal with grey lining and a total of 12 matching teal wheels, he has a semi-circular symbol depicting 3 yellow trees with 2 brown axes crossing each other on both sides of his cab and tender. He first appeared on Take-n-Play's "final" 2010 Collector Checklist, and with Fisher-Price's 12/11 MSRP of $8.00 for their medium/large sized engines is well worth that price! (I paid $8.99 for my grandson's and don't regret it!) You can pair him up with the other Logging Locos and the Rescue from Misty Island playset if you'd like - that's where my grandson keeps his! A mud-splattered version of Ferdinand is included in the "Muddy Ferdinand" themed pack.

5An enjoyable character who is a few moments away from starring in an upcoming movie, Misty Island Rescue!!!Aug 24, 2010

When I got this character, definitely looks like the promo pic and nothing missing. This is a very detailed character as well, soo I would recommend this if you want to catch up with the upcoming movie, Misty Island Rescue. Now for Bash and Dash to be released for this range...

5Perfect addition to Thomas collectionJul 20, 2011
By WyoKan87 "Elise"
Got this for my 2 year old son. He has several Thomas trains, both the wooden railway and the pack and play. We have gotten way more use out of these then any other toy.

Though Ferdinand is a bit of a minor character in the shows/books, he does have some differences that make him unique. His tinder has wood in it, not coal. The wheels on his engine also rotate, the front two separately from the back two. This has caused a little frustration on the part of my 2-year-old, as when you don't have it on a track they kind of just go what ever way they want, usually not the same direction, so you end up just dragging an axle.

However the product is well made, and one of the cheaper Thomas trains, so makes a great addition to any Thomas collection.
