Take-n-Play Thomas train sets are best choice for high energry kidsJan 18, 2011
By B. F. Mason
"SAHD"
I loved trains as a kid, so when I had a boy I went nuts buying things to improve and increase my sons wooden train play set. The problem was, with a few dogs in the house and a high energy little on, I spent all of my time building train layouts that were easily knocked over and my son (then 2 now 4) struggled to rebuild without help. If only I could spend an entire day setting up trains with my son, but one of us has to be the grown up :) Then there were the issues with him taking them outside where sun and rain would ruin the wood pieces, including the trains. Then I found the take-n-play version......they are durable, the dogs are uninterested in destroying it, the plastic track works inside or out and clips together easily so he can build and destroy it as often as his imagination lets him. Plus with the die cast metal trains, like this Bill and Ben, they will last as long as hot wheels do, which means I will have a large train set to put in the attic for my grandchildren some day.
This is also the most economical of all the Thomas sets.
Mischievous Bill & Ben!Dec 22, 2011
By Grandma Zizzy Prior to going into detail about Bill & Ben, a little of our own "Thomas" history... As first time grandparents, my husband and I wanted to start some type of collection for our grandson that he could possibly pass along to his own kids one day. Our grandson was 2 1/2 at the time, and had been talking a lot about a certain train named Thomas (a little fella whom - now seems hard to believe! - we'd never heard of.) After doing some research, it seemed the Take-n-Play line might be the perfect investment to engage and encourage his active imagination, as well as provide a fun way for us to interact with him. What a rewarding decision... we've had SO much fun together with this quality line of trains, vehicles and playsets! As he approaches 4, a large portion of our basement has become a wonderful Sodor land of make believe that we all enjoy visiting - and continues to hold his interest, which is quite a feat given the tendency at that age to move in and out of toy phases so quickly!
Bill & Ben are twin tank engines who work for the "Sodor China Clay Co.", as well as at the harbor. They enjoy playing tricks and are a little ornery to the other engines... a little naughty and troublesome! They're bright yellow with light yellow "S C C" (for Sodor China Clay) lettering on both sides of their tanks, as well as light yellow "BRENDAM BAY" lettering in a semi-circle above their faces; they also have their names printed in light yellow against brown on both sides of their boilers, red linings and bases, with brown panels around their cabs and light grey cab roofs; each has 4 black wheels. Bill & Ben first appeared in TV Season 2 (1986), Episode 21 ("The Diseasel"), and were one of the first 3 "buddy packs" on Take-n-Play's original (Spring 2010) Collector Checklist. With Fisher-Price's 12/11 MSRP of $10.00, they're well worth it (I paid $10.99 for my grandson's and don't regret it! A paint-splattered version of Bill is also included in the Sodor Paint Shop playset.

Adorable Trains, Great Shopping Experience!Mar 20, 2011
By Shirley Duffy I am so pleased with my purchase. The seller shipped the "Bill and Ben" trains immediately. They came in the mail very promptly and were packaged well. Also, it is hard to find these particular trains at any of the stores. Therefore, my Grandson was thrilled when he got them! I would recommend to anyone. Shirley in PA

a little boy's delightFeb 09, 2011
By histrybuf We bought these trains for our 3 year old grandson. He dearly loves them and faithfully puts them in their appointed places in the round house. He has 9 of them and counts them to make sure that all are present.
