CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Build & Play Train is yet another step along the way to becoming an Erector master builder. Specifically designed to be more project oriented, each set has enough parts to build two different models when the child follows the instruction booklet. The real creativity begins once kids learn that it's OK to depart from the instructions and build a few designs of their own! New flexible pieces have added a whole new dimension of fun to the creations a child's active imagination can come up with.

1Worst directions everOct 23, 2011
By mean_jeannie
The directions for this set are very unclear, and the pieces barely hold together. The individual pieces feel fine, but it's not easy to put them together - even when you use the tools to try to tighten the screws, the whole thing feels very flimsy. It's impossible for my child to put all the different parts together, hold them, and use the tools to connect them even with me handling all the directions. I just don't see how this is rated for as young as 5. It was a frustrating experience trying to help my child with it and I would never recommend it. I don't even think I'm going to donate the set; I wouldn't want to torture anyone else with it.

4Not for young ones to do aloneMar 08, 2011

Great model set but not for the easy beginner. My husband says that he has trouble following the directions because of its complexity. Definitely not a toy for my 5 yr old to do by himself but we knew that from the other reviews. Otherwise an awesome toy for some together learning patience time.

BTW-the battery powered drill is a must!

My son Loves Trains and has been taking things apart since before age 2 (now age 5) and this keeps him occupied and keeps him from taking other things around the house apart.

Kids had a great time putting it together. Could not ask for a better toy to keep the kids busy all day.

4Very cute and easy to do!!Jan 03, 2013

Got this for my son for Christmas and he likes it. One down side is that the pieces are plastic but I guess that was a reader error on my part. I think next time I buy one of these I will get the metal ones instead.
