Good Construction Set for Young OnesSep 19, 2010
By Howard Roth

My 5 year old son and I built the ATV version this morning. The parts and tools work well for a 5 year old as the nuts and bolts are large sized and the tools fit nicely into small hands. I usually try (argue) to get my son to work on these types of projects himself and I only audit the effort to provide a little guidance here and there. He first had a little trouble getting the tires on the hub and I provided an example of how you need to wiggle it just so, ensuring a good fit. This was out of sequence, but it's hard for me not to put the rubber tires on the hubs right away so I couldn't give my son a hard time. Going through the 11 or so steps to get to the end product had a few difficult moments. The bending of the pliable parts to make up the back fender that has some extending piece that connects to the seat is difficult to accomplish for a small kid. It wasn't all the clear from the illustration that you needed to fold certain pieces and that was tough for my son to visualize based on following the green lines that guide you on how the pieces are to be put together. That really was the crux of what caused me to remove a star. I think there was one other difficult moment, but I think my son could have struggled through it without my help, but sometimes you give in to stifle the whining. Overall a good construction set for 5/6 year olds and I am looking forward to watching my son dismantle the ATV and attempt to build one of the other configurations.
Falls apart.Jan 20, 2011

bought this for my son. He enjoyed putting it together with me, but after we put it together it fell apart. The pieces do not stay together at all, if it is moved the bolts come apart. Wished this toy was made better. Would be fun to put it together and play with it.
Erector set - builds 4 modelsOct 15, 2010
By Deb's feedback This is a great building toy for kids but the bolts do not hold it all together for very long - soo tooo easy to lose parts and not be able to build other models.
durable assembly toyOct 04, 2010
By Monkey King 2004 I purchased this toy for my 6 year old son as a transitional piece from Lego to metal piece assembly toy sets (what is the name of that one?) that are for 8-year-olds. The merchant arrived within two days of the order and everything was as good as expected. Instructions are complete and straight forward. Alex spent less than 15 minutes for the first model (jeep?). His younger brother played with the four wheels afterward. Both enjoyed the toy very much.

this erector set was easier and faster to built for a 4 1/2 year old than the larger set,he needed help thou and had lots of fun when the car was done.Less pieces, less frustration.
