 Not the best qualityMay 09, 2012

Bought this set over another brand due to lower cost (about 15% lower at the time). The cut does not have the highest precision. If you stack a bunch together, you can easily notice the different length. Wood is light, but quite soft, thus easily get stratched/dented. Three stars without considering the price; with the lower price, 4 stars.

My wife and I first saw these blocks at the Discovery Kids Musseum in Carlotte, NC, and we saw our four grandchildren and their dads, our two oldest sons, having a wonderful time with the building blocks. When we got back home we decided to get some for our grandchildren to play with when they visit us; now we are the best grandparents in the whole world but our kids still enjoy to lay down on the floor, playing and building with their kids. At times looks like 200 blocks is not enough.

I think we now own 3 boxes of this particular brand of blocks after getting the first ones on closeout at a big box toystore. we bought more because our kids wanted to build more and bigger things. there are lots of lego and other building toys around, but I really think the kids get a lot of satisfaction out of building with these for a few reasons.
a) fun with gravity - there are lots of model ideas in this set that utilize the length of these blocks to build with them hanging out over open spaces and creating bridges and archways
b) nice texture and feel. real wood
c) after fun building and balancing for a while, there are few toys that make such a satisfying crash when you knock down your project. and none of the pieces are heavy enough to hurt anyone or anything around the house.

I bought this set for my children and I find myself using it along with them. Great fun and you can really build some pretty amazing stuff with these blocks!!!

This toy is really geared to allow a child to use his own imagination to build buildings, animals what he/she wants. The wood is designed to do all sorts of building with good examples for the kids, or parents...Unbuild and rebuild use it over and over again. This is a better toy than a DVD just sitting and watching.
