Go Nuts for Furbanks SquirrelsApr 03, 2011

Another great Calico Critters family! The Furbank Squirrels are really cute.
Like all Critter families, the set comes with a Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother. They all have flocked brown "fur" and fluffy brown tails. Mom and Dad are about 3 1/4" tall, and the kids are about 2 1/2". All their arms, legs and heads move. Dad is wearing green suspender pants with a yellow gingham collared shirt. The shirt has decorative buttons on the front, and a velcro closure on the back. Mom has a cute floral dress with a shawl collar and an attached apron (I REALLY like the dresses with attached aprons, because the apron doesn't get lost, and I don't have to struggle to tie the tiny ribbons to put it back on!). Brother is wearing light green gingham overalls with orange buttons, and Sister sports a green calico dress with straps and red buttons (again, just like mom, I love this outfit because there are NO little ribbons to tie - just a velcro closure). Dad and Brothers' tails stick out above their pants, Mom's tail sticks out through the opening in the back of her dress, and Sister's tail comes out the bottom of her dress. I was a little concerned about the tails. I wasn't sure how sturdy they would be, but we've had this family for a year, and all the tails are still attached and still fluffy. Sometimes it's a little harder to set the Furbank Squirrels on chairs or couches, because the tails get in the way, but they do fit on all the Calico Furniture we have - they just take a little extra manuevering. If you are buying these for a little girl, I might start with a family that doesn't have big bushy tails.
My 8 and 11 year old girls have a lot of fun playing with their Calico Critter families. I love to watch them set up a whole town of dollhouses and start dreaming up a game. Their first families are about 5 years old. All the critters are still in very good shape. Some of the black and white families look a little dingy,and some of the aprons have been lost, but everything else is still great. Just keep them away from your dog!
Bottom Line -you'll be nuts about these squirrels

These toys are lots of fun, they are cute, and fairly durable, but if you do not handle them carefully then the fur will come off, for this particular family especially the fur on the tail. They are poseable and their clothes come off, and when you stand them up on a firm. flat surface they will not fall over easily. They are also very tiny, and when you buy the furniture you will need to be careful not to loose all the tiny pieces, or let toddlers or babies play with them without supervision, the small pieces can be swallowed and the child can choke. Overall, if handled with care, this family and all other Calico Critters family and furniture will provide a lot of fun, and should last for many years.

My seven-year-old daughter loves the Calico Critters range of toys, especially since she is keen on making up stories and playing make believe. The Furbanks Squirrel family is one of her favorites. They are beautiful little critters with cute outfits and those bushy tails are super soft and stuck on quite fast to their bodies. We have several different families so my daughter loves changing their outfits, which is quite easy, but one does have to be careful.
The bodies themselves are sturdy yet have a soft texture on the outside so it feel pleasant to the touch. They can be posed and the arms and legs can bend though trying to make them sit comfortably is not easy, and they can only bend about halfway. This set comes with a mom, dad, brother, and sister. The Calico Critters range of toys are really cute and detailed enough to keep even older children entertained.

We have several Calico Critter animals, furniture, and homes. They are great! They might be a bit more expensive, but they last through years of play! All your children, nieces & nephews, grand children, and all of their friends will love to play with them too! They are very popular in our home, and I'd recommend them to everyone!
