2Sort of cute, but horribly overpricedDec 17, 2007

I bought this for my daughter, who is almost 4. It is cute, but there is nothing that sets it apart from any other plastic playset. Except, of course, that it is triple the price it should be! The school came with two baby critters, 4 school desks, two play blocks, a sink, a baby pool and some accessories. The accessories, which consisted of two boxes, four books, four notebooks, and two pieces of plain yellow felt (which I think are supposed to be rugs) were cheap and poorly designed. They were made out of cardboard, paper and stickers and you had to assemble them yourself with terrible directions. Keep in mind that they are about the size of a postage stamp, so it was frustrating and clumsy. I ended up throwing half of them away. My daughter is enjoying playing with the babies, but I don't think the toy was worth anywhere near the price that I paid.

3CUTE but deceptiveNov 02, 2010

My daughter loves this so I feel bad complaining, but it is a very deceptive ad & package. The toy is as other reviewers noted one building, 2 babies and 8 small pieces of plastic. There is NO SWING, NO SEE SAW, or any of the other items pictured. The "accessories" are a few 4x3 inch squares - one of stickers, one thin paper and one thin cardstock. The advertising is a GROSS EXAGGERATION. Also, despite the Amazon "special pricing" after I bought this I saw it for $10 less at a national toystore. All together, a bit of a let down from an adult perspective.

2Calico Critters Nursery School Not Worth the MoneyJul 06, 2010
By Lucy
My granddaughter has numerous Calico Critters sets including the house, many of the furniture sets, and the table. Up until now, I was very pleased with the quality and play value. Today we purchased the Calico Critters Bathroom and the Preschool. The Bathroom was very nice and fairly priced at about $13.00. However, the Preschool was a rip-off. The two Critters, the little building, the four little desks, and the sink are adorable. These pieces make a nice quality set in themselves, and would be fairly priced at $18 to $25. However, the price was about a whopping $53.00! One thinks the high price is based on the "40" pieces and accessories. However, when one opens the toy, 27 of the accessories are paper/cardboard junk that will not withstand more than one play session. Twelve of the "accessories" are nothing but tiny little squares of paper that supposedly are teaching color/pattern cards for the school. Even the "toy box," which should have been made out of plastic, is a little piece of thin cardboard that is smashed the first time a child plays with it. Either the price on this item should be substantially reduced or the manufacturer should remove the paper junk and subsitute some quality accessories that can actually provide some play hours. In the meantime, don't waste your money on this one!

2Not worth the moneyDec 15, 2010
By C. Stephens "Christina, mom of 2"
This was one of several Calico Critter houses my daughter received for Christmas three years ago. And this is the only one that I gave away the last time we moved. It simply isn't worth the money. Other houses and structures have more to them - lights or ways to move furniture, apples or slides - this was simply a "school" that looks nothing like a school. The books are just about impossible to put together as they are made solely out of a thin cardboard and they flatten too easily. (I still have my books from when I was child ... and Calico Critters was known as Sylvanian families ... so my daughter played with my old set of plastic books. Why can't they just make the same books they were making 20 years ago??) If you are buying Calico Critters items, pass on this one. Everything else we have purchased is just adorable and sooo much fun to play with. It's great to see another generation enjoying these little animal families!

3Not as fun as the picture on the boxMay 05, 2011
By Amy Kochensparger
My daughter has the Calico Critters Townhouse and has really enjoyed playing with the animals and furniture. Even Barbie and Batman have been known to visit the critters. I saw this preschool in the store and thought about purchasing it for over a year. Many of the reviews were not good, but I thought that the school had a cute and colorful set-up and that it would be fun for my four-year-old daughter. She receive this for Christmas, and it definitely was not as much fun as it looks like on-line. The school itself is very small, and Barbie definitely has a hard time visiting. There are only a few hard plastic accessories (4 school desks, a ladder to get to the roof, 3 blocks, and a swimming pool). The rest of the accessories are paper or flimsy cardboard - I did not even give them to my daughter to play with because they are too small and will get destroyed very quickly. I would recommend the Townhouse, but not this Nursery School.
