not your average melody makerMar 16, 2010
By C. Clune I loved this little toy, it is so cute and i love the original melodies. I also love the panda so much, I just got the black/white orca.
The Panda is Great for NewbornsFeb 13, 2010
By thewahlmighty The panda melody maker I was lucky enough to receive (from my little sister) has big eyes, a nice smile, and black ears (filled in with red). The product is put together well. There are no loose strings, it can sit up on its own, and it's made to last.
The panda has three sounds. Two are melodies (lasting around five seconds by my rough estimation); one sounds like a cricket.
While not thrilled about the sounds, the black and white of the panda is visually stimulating to newborns--and goes well with what I think are two of the best baby products: the Lamaze PeekaBoo Clutch Cube, which features a panda on one side, and Baby Animals Black and White: Black and White, which has a panda giving a nice, bashful smile on its first page.
While I am giving the panda four stars, I wouldn't recommend ordering this one--given that Baby Einstein won't promise to send it to you. You may get an elephant or a lion instead (and it currently says they won't "accept special requests"). Hopefully this policy changes; until then, it's probably best to look elsewhere.
