2Mr. The Conductor Would be Very DisappointedSep 27, 2010
By W. Holland
My son loves Dinosaur Train. I, like so many of you, waited patiently for the toys to be released. I didn't and still don't understand why it took an entire year but it did. Once they were listed on Amazon, I ordered every single one of them - imagining the look of joy on my son's face as I clicked each one into my shopping cart. When they were delivered? My first thought opening the box was, "This is it?!"

The train, cars, and figures are all very small. They're flimsy. The workmanship is poor: the pegs and holes do not fit. They look like something I'd find in a $1 junk bin or a gumball machine. If I'd seen and held these before buying, I would have put them back on the shelf without a second thought. I really hope the 700% profit is going to PBS but I really doubt it is.

But our kids want Dinosaur Train toys, right? What I would recommend are the more expensive (and overpriced) Interaction Dinosaur Train toys or the Plush Dinosaur Train dolls.

As for me...For the same price, I ended up going to a local Natural Science museum where I picked up realistic dinosaur toys from the museum giftshop. They're more durable, my son loves them, and I know the profit is going towards science education. Meanwhile...the Dinosaur Train figures languish in a plastic bin in his closet.

4Things to think about before you buySep 20, 2010
By Jodi Nichole Baker "Munkygoboom"
I bought this along with two other cars and the main train for my daughter for her birthday, she LOVES Dinosaur Train. I'm pretty please with it. It is a bit smaller than I thought it would be and the cars seem like they aren't made up to the finest standards but for the price, it's a really cute toy. My daughter loves them and the detail on the figures is great. All of the dinosaurs really resemble the characters from the show which is really nice, I hate getting toys only to find that the characters look nothing like they're suppose to. I gotta say though, it would have been nice if they had made the holes on the bottom of the feet sized to match the pegs that are suppose to fit in the on the carts, I read about this problem in another review and I have to say that it's spot on. You have to bend the legs and you feel like your going to break the figures to get them on and they never really ever go on. If i had to buy it again, I'm not sure I would but my daughter loves it so much that I can look past a few flaws.

1Why not compatible with Thomas train tracks?Jan 28, 2011
By djon
I recently examined the Learning Curve Dinosaur Trains at a large toy store. I'm disappointed at apparent quality, but moreover astounded that they are not compatible with Brio and other similar train tracks. Why on earth not??!!

My 2 year old daughter loves the show and this train and the other peices of it are some of her favorite toys. She plays with them all the time. Highly recommended, especially for fans of the show.

3Expected better...Apr 23, 2011
By W. Weber
We purchased the Dinosaur Train set with the track and station. It said it came with the nest and time tunnel. These were flimsy cardboard and didn't even last one day. My 2 1/2 year old even recognized they were 'not good' and 'flimsy.' I expected something he could actually play with and that was impossible, they wouldn't even stay together OR stand up. Further, the dinosaurs will not stand on their own, even on a flat surface, which is a source of great frustration for my son. They will not stay in their train cars (even propped up) when the cars are moving. It appears they have a little 'peg' that is supposed to go into a little hole in the car, but that is impossible for either my husband and I to accomplish, so no child would be able to accomplish it. The train that comes with the set WILL NOT pull any extra cars without spinning it's wheels and going no where. Then to add insult to injury, we purchased lights and sounds Dinosaur train hoping to help the original train along (by splitting up the cars) without realizing that although we spent MORE in lights and sounds train relative to the set, it does NOT move. To a 2 1/2 year old, it appears broken and he doesn't understand that ONE train won't sing and the OTHER train won't move. Very disappointed.
