3off the tracksSep 15, 2010
By Dharma
My son (18 months) loves the train and the tracks. There is one major flaw in that the train always goes off the track where it can connect to other pieces. Doesn't really bother an 18-month since he doesn't totally get that the train is supposed to stay on the tracks yet. To me, it seems like a trick to get you to buy more stuff and it would be annoying if you are using a battery powered Thomas.

Although this piece is advertised as being "compatible with all Thomas wooden sets".... it really is not. It is meant for the under 18mo sets and creates some problems for the regular trains as well as requiring special connectors in order to attach it to regular Thomas tracks. I would not purchase it again and feel that the differences should be made clear on the packaging and in the advertising.

2Has Some Design FlawsJan 01, 2012

We bought this station for my three-year old, who has quite a few Thomas items. Let me begin by saying that he likes it a lot. I, however, am a bit disappointed, and I certainly wouldn't buy it again. The toy has a solid construction, but I think the design is flawed.

This track is supposed to be compatible with other Thomas toys, but I found that some of my son's other trains drag bottom (admittedly most run along the track fine). My biggest complaint is the red turnstile on the toy. Only one engine can pass it at a time. Most of the fun of a train set comes from linking multiple engines and cars together. If you try to move more than one engine past the turnstile, the back end of the turnstile will knock all the trailing cars off the track. Not too fun. A real "train," as in an engine with cars, will never work with this station. Also, the Thomas engine that comes with this set is "chunky." He's cute enough, but he's too tall to fit under bridges that come with the other sets.

This toy is okay, but it's not 100% compatible with the larger Thomas system. If you own more Thomas stuff, or if you're thinking about buying more, then I'd skip this toy. It just doesn't fit in as well as you'd expect.

5Stable & Fun for ToddlersSep 30, 2011

This is a great introduction to wooden tracks for toddlers. The over sized Thomas is very cute. The track can't fall apart so there is less frustration. Kids can easily build onto it as they are ready and the circle will always stay intact for easy playing. Compact for storage.

5Great for kids that breakAug 28, 2011

I have 3 kids (11,4,21mo) and they've chewed or broken parts of almost every toy they own. The regular Thomas sets still have easy to chew connectors for the tracks. THIS DOESN'T! My husband and I tried to break them every way we knew how and NOTHING! Got mine as a diaper reward, but I'LL BUY MORE OF THESE ANYTIME!!
