5Enjoyable and EducationalJul 04, 2011

My son first received this set when he was about 6 or 7 years old. He is now 9 and the toy is lasting quite well. You do have to press the pieces together rather strongly though for a young child to keep it together. (It is not quite as tight of a construction as the Lego brand blocks.) The price is quite reasonable and it allows for hours of pretend farming. Our 2 and a 1/2 year old son plays with the built tractor with his older brother's supervision and it usually stays together ;-)

With so many toy options available, toys like this where a child can follow a set of instructions and make a practical and useful object with which to play is quite refreshing. Rather than being stuck in a world of fantasy, this type of educational building set gives kids a practical hands-on project that will allow him or her to pretend play real work that occurs, like farming, that affects our daily lives.

1Frustrating to buildMar 17, 2011

I bought this for my 4 year old son since my son loves Tractors and Trucks and to also try out a different building toy besides LEGO. I don't recommend this building set. This falls apart and you cannot play with it after building. This was a frustrating toy for my son to play with and for me to try to explain to him why it keeps falling apart. The instructions are very hard to follow even for an adult (so I don't know how the recommended age of 5 year old could follow this). The instructions are not too detail and they try to combine the instructions together to minimize the number of steps. I think I will stick with LEGO.
