Going strong a year later - but the picture has changedDec 08, 2010

I got this for my daughter last year as part of her Christmas present and she was playing with it in the bath this morning. So as far as staying power - both in terms of quality of toy and of maintaining interest - I give it high marks. Oddly, the doll that I bought is not the doll currently pictured here. Amazon is showing the banner indicating that this is indeed the item I bought, but it looks like it was updated. So to be clear, I'm talking about the approximately Barbie's sized Aurora doll with bunny that is suitable for bath. Aurora is wearing a pink bathing suit with a rubbery pink skirt that is removable, and both her bodice and skirt have a small section that change colors (from dark pink to light pink) in warm water. Her hair has a pink section that similarly changes (from pink to blue). There's nothing shimmery about her, and the only "accessory" item is the bunny. Looks like the picture on this item: Disney Princess Royal Bath Beauty Sleeping Beauty Doll.
The color change is certainly not perfect - it takes some seriously cold water to turn the colors back. When we come back to the bath the next day, Aurora is dry but it generally still hasn't gotten cold enough and so they are still the warm water colors. My daughter doesn't mind though, and really doesn't play with the doll for the color change. She plays with her because Aurora is her favorite princess and now Aurora can learn to swim, cliff dive from the side of the tub, make friends with mermaids, and the play goes on and on. She loves her so much she's getting Disney Princess Bath Beauty Belle Doll and Disney Princess Royal Bath Beauty Ariel Doll for Christmas this year to join Aurora! :)

I purchased this Barbie as a gift for my friends daughter. Her daughter really enjoys playing with Barbies and always ask to take them in the tub. This Barbie was a big success, she spends a lot of time playing with her in the tub and can use her outside the tub with her other barbies as well.

These are decently made and hold up well in the water. It is a bit disconcerting to see Aurora in a bathing suit with a modern interpretation of the original classic. But young children won't mind and can enjoy playing and singing with the doll in the bathtub. It's priced right and holds up well.
