Something seems to be missing!Apr 21, 2008

This toy was not as exciting on its own as we may have thought. It is hard to assemble and the tracks break away from each other as my children play with it so it leads to frustration if I am not there to fix it right away. My kids did not play with it much until I connected it to other take along play sets (although it drives my daughter nuts when my son pushes Thomas the tank engine on the Dora tracks). It was almost too basic and lacked details that could have made it a good dramatic play item by itself. The castle does not hold the tracks and is generally awkward so it really cannot be transported without putting it into a bag or box. Overall it seemed to be missing key elements that would make it a great toy!

While my 3 year old likes playing with this toy, I am not sure why it is called a "take along" toy since there is no self-contained holder/organizer; we are using an old backpack diaper bag to store it. Additionally, the track is difficult for my daughter to put together. We have other toys with similar features that she can assemble entirely on her own. This causes her to become frustrated when she can not put the track back together herself. In spite of my disappointment with this toy, she seems to enjoy playing with it as long as I reassemble the track for her.

I bought this toy for my daughter for Christmas. It looks like she will have a lot of fun with it, especially because she has other vehicals that can go along the track.
She really likes Dora and when I saw this I knew she would be happy with it. Now I can't wait until she gets to open it Christmas day!
