Dkip this oneMar 06, 2010
I should have paid more attention to the reviews. Packer is definitely a cute looking vehicle but a complete waste of money ! Do yourselves a favor and skip this one. The plastic peg will break very quickly and make the trailer useless. Ours broke within the first day so needless to say, our son was very disappointed. Not up to standard
Don't buy "Packer"Feb 10, 2010 I agree with what some of the other reviews have stated: this toy is bound to break because of the little "hitch" that connects the truck and the trailer. When I received the toy in the mail, the hitch and the connecting "hole" on the truck were already broken!! I can't tell you how disappointed my 2 year old was when he tried to play with it... he was so frustrated. He asked "dad fix?!" I had to tell him there wasn't a way for daddy to fix it.
Now I have to try to get a refund for my mom (who purchased it) or get a replacement... I really don't even want a replacement because I don't think this product was well designed. It's pretty cheap of them to call this a "die cast" toy when the trailer and the boxes that go in the back are made of plastic; only the truck engine is die cast.

Packer :)Jan 22, 2009 Anything from the Bob the Builder series is FUN, I recommend this and all the other toys Amazon features from them.

Not as good as other Bob'sMay 07, 2008 I wish I had read the reviews on Packer. I would have skipped him too. My 2 1/2 year old LOVES him, but I dread the day when the little plastic peg breaks off. I am thinking about super glue, but my son likes to take off the trailer. I don't understand why they would make his trailer from plastic...does't make sense and makes him kind of cheap. Oh well!

Packed with frustration.Mar 23, 2008 Poor Packer here doesn't have much going for him besides the fact that he's a Bob the Builder toy. Sure, he's cute as any other truck can be, but due to his design, he comes packed with frustration and disappointment for your little builder.
My 3½-year-old Bob fanatic received this truck as a gift addition to his collection. He was thrilled initially: the trailer is big enough to carry more than just Packer's apple crates, and he could drive the truck with the trailer or as a bobtail. But then came the frustration, for both the preschooler and parents. The trailer attaches to the front-end with a small peg "hitch," the peg being on the trailer and the hole on the truck. Easy enough. Except that the connection is loose -- I surmise so that the child can easily remove it. The problem is that it would slip out TOO easily, frustrating the child that it won't stay together. Then, Mom & Dad, be prepared for multiple requests to "fix it."
But that's workable; it's a learning experience, I guess. However, disappointment was soon to follow the frustration. Did I mention that while the truck is die-cast, the trailer is plastic? Well, it is. So, remember that little plastic peg/hitch? Guess what happens when the child has a little too much fun with the truck and gets just a little rough. (And really, I haven't known a true Bob the Builder fan to play "gently" with his/her trucks yet.) Well, that little plastic peg will inevitably snap off in the die-cast hole, making Packer a permanent bob-tail truck.
Oh, by the way, somehow that connection that seemed so loose when the child was trying to drive the truck is terribly snug when you're trying to get that broken peg out of the hole. Go figure.
If you're looking for a Bob the Builder toy for your child, consider some other one. And if he/she has all of the other ones, really, just wait a month or so & there's bound to be another batch. Skip Packer.
