Noisy and fun little engineFeb 17, 2004
By Greg A. Hurst

My 4-year-old son has just about every Thomas and Brio engine on the market, including the "electric" versions of Thomas and his friends. This one is different -- it does not move by itself as do the electric vehicles. Rather, it makes train and track noises as your child pushes it along the track. It's a fun addition to a younger child's set (one who is not ready for an electric engine that moves itself) -- as well as a great addition to an older child's set as it's new and different. Plus, it feels sturdy. I've only had it for a week, but it looks like it will last a while -- the self-propelled electric engines, while they're well-built, are no match in the long-term for the hijinks of a little boy.

Great Train!Feb 19, 2004
By c2 If you are looking for a great value, get this engine. It is so cute - it lights up and makes a chugging sound when it's rolling along the track. We attach it to a battery-operated engine and it makes the sounds while the other engine provides the power. It's just hours of fun and adds that extra "something" to your train.

By Robert C. Burress A high quality product small enough for a young one to handle and enjoy. Very durable.

Brio Light and sound steam engineDec 26, 2007

Nice little engine. Needs batteries for the sounds, but it's a push engine. The faster they push the brighter and faster the light comes on. A push button on top makes the toot toot sound. Not too loud. Works with all other Brio. Nice engine to get kids moving instead of letting the battery do the work for them. My son is loving his new train.
plastic Brio made in ChinaApr 25, 2011
By Krista By looks not impressive (I cannot judge the light and sound feature because I did not open the package), made of plastic in China (though Brio) and therefore in my opinion too expensive.
