No Rokenbok layout should be without this one!Jan 02, 2007
By J. Strout This is a great addition to any Rokenbok layout. It's ideal for the younger Rok workers in the family, because you don't have to steer the monorail -- it just goes forward and back. But it also has a cargo car that you can use to load with balls from the hoppers (included with the starter set) and dump them out again. As always with Rokenbok, the engineering is excellent -- the monorail is solid, easy to control, and has nice features like the cargo tipper automatically recentering itself when you release the dump button. It's also designed so that you can't drive while the tipper is out, so you can't accidentally bash it into things. I also love the way the monorail "rail" isn't composed of special pieces, but is just ordinary Rokenbok beams. That means that in addition to the oval shown on the box, you can no doubt make other layouts using the other parts you already have. (There is also a Monorail Track set with a lot of additional rail parts, including S-shaped pieces that let you make up and down slopes the monorail can climb.) This set is a lot of fun and adds a neat dimension to your layout. I highly recommend it.

Great addition if you have the roomFeb 18, 2007

Be carefull this is an addon set, you will find many negative reviews on amazon about Rokenbock. Dont let tehm bother you!!
Do your research as Rockenbock is a building set that REQUIRES a starter pack, one you understand and purchase a starter set first you and your child will have loads of fun..
My only compaint about the monirail it that is takes up alot of room.. I think you need at least a 5 x 6 area to play well with any opf the rockenbock toys. Also this is something that needs to be left out or in major peices, you wont want to keep builinding it each day to play with it.. it will loose its fun if you have to take it down each day.
Great Addition for the Rokenbok Construction family or on its own!Jul 03, 2011

My son received the Monorail for his fifth birthday along with the rail expansion set. I gave the rail expansion set 4 stars in another review, so I'm only reviewing the Monorail (and what comes in the box with the Monorail) here. I gave this set 5 stars because we just can't find anything not to like about it. I think our favorite part is that the train actually "works" - the power dump bed picks up roks from the bins and dumps them out - it doesn't just drive around and around the track. We also love that it runs on regular Rokenbok building sets, so you could use any Rokenbok building set to add track. Our son loves the horn sounds that the Monorail makes when you press the "1" or "2" button. The included track makes an oval that fits perfectly with the Rokenbok Construction Starter Set, and even though the oval isn't huge, we still think it's fun and a good value for the price.
Please note that this set does not include a Star Controller which is required to operate the Monorail; you have to purchase this separately. But, because this runs on a track, a 3 year old could easily navigate the Monorail. And, the Star Controller is fairly easy to use. (It's set up kind of like a PS3 remote.)
The only thing that we have found that doesn't work perfectly every time is the self-centering feature on the power dump bed. Sometimes, it will return itself to slightly off centered which causes it to hit the chute on the starter set. A couple of times, the Monorail has gotten stuck because the power dump bed is off center. But, this is fairly rare, and not enough for us to remove a star. This is still great fun!
Highly recommended addition to your Rokenbok Construction family!
The Train is my favorite!Jul 01, 2011
By J Baxter We have a lot of toys in our home, however this is the only one with its own dedicated space... My son and his friends spend hours building and playing with Rokenbok! They are extremely well put together with high quality plastics, second to none. If you are considering getting your child one of the many toy systems that are available on the market today. You would be doing yourself a favor by picking Rokenbok. It is the only one that ages 1 to 101 will never tire of and will grow with your family! - The Train is my favorite, be carful tho... I am not constantly adding new track to try and out do my last track i built, it is taking over my sons room, In a good way... and I am the dad =)
Rokenbok is great- especially the monorailJun 29, 2011
By denise My boys always have a great time with their set of Rokenbok toys- we have quite a few pieces. We really like the monorail - it's fun on the track and great that you can still receive or dump items from it. Very cool piece that can interact with so many other pieces. Plus the company has outstanding customer service. These items are great for all ages- and it's really fun to build your own worlds as you add pieces and get creative with it. I haven't bought any of the conveyors yet but I think those are a must have piece as well.
