Temporary use onlyFeb 14, 2008
By A. Powell We bought two of these mats last Christmas. We used one for playing on (we have tile floors) and one as a safety net under my son's crib. Less than a year later the top layer is peeling off and the handles have torn off. This is not a sturdy mat. I am very disappointed in the quality. I am in search of a better quality mat as we are now using the mats for physical therapy. It is unpleasant to have pieces of the mat stuck to your child as she rolls or moves across the mat.

Not for TumblingJul 28, 2009
By Dee Dee I would not recommend this mat for any tumbling. The surface is too slippery for the child to maintain any traction. The mat is also NOT soft. The top 1/2 inch is soft, BUT the backing is a hard cardboard that makes the mat to hard for tumbling. I could see this mat being useful for a baby or toddler for safety, but nothing past that. My daughter is in gymnastics, and this mat was useless. My daughter was barely 4yrs old when I purchased the mat and weighed 35 pounds (if that). She couldn't even hold her bridge on it - her feet kept slipping out from under her. She could only do a couple forward or backward rolls before her head was sore.
I have not had any issues with the durability. She has used it for other purposes (doing roundoffs and cartwheels over it when folded - as a place holder). She used it as a slide off the couch, and other imaginative ways. I have gotten my money's worth in that respect. It has been used and abused over the last year or so and has held up well. It just cannot be used for tumbling, gymnastics or cheerleading.

Jus what I expectedJul 28, 2008

The mat was just what I expected. Bright colors, large and thick. The only downside is that the material is not very durable. It is a blend of carton and plastic. It sticks to the bare skin as if it had glue residue. Nevertheless, it works great for my 10 mo old (although it may not last long).

could have better qualityApr 11, 2008

I bought this mat for our toddler since we have hardwood flooring it was nice to have our daughter have playtime on the mat. The only complaint is that it is poorly made, the material is thin and we have noticed after only having it 9 months that the material itself tears, which could be a potential choking hazzard for any child under 3 years of age. I suggest a more durable mat.

Top layer peeled offDec 28, 2007
By Lindsay Loved the mat. Have had mat for just under a year. Used on hardwood floor as soft surface for baby to play until it started peeling. The cute star pattern is coming up in big chunks. Baby likes to pull them off. Have to retire mat.
