We got this set and one of the larger Alex shrinky dinks jewelry sets, and this one was much better. Everything you need is in the box, and it's the right amount of stuff for a 6-year old to do in an afternoon. All the pieces are pre-cut, too.
The main reason I liked this set better is that the jewelry is easier for a child to use. I will warn you, however, that the rings used to attach the jewelry aren't that good and will fall off. If you have some split rings (like $2 for a pack of 100) for jewelry making, they'll work better.

This is a fun toy for kids! Educational? Not really. They do learn how hot an oven gets so don't touch. They love to look through the oven door and watch them curl and shrink. Great fun for weekend winter evenings for kids.

This was the first time my granddaughter age 9 had ever done a craft like this. She was very excited watching the shrinking process. She likes horses so this was a perfect gift. I remembered how my children enjoyed this craft. So did I! We traced on plain sheets pictures of the family. When they shrunk, we used as charms on bracelets and necklaces.

I remember doing these when I was a kid so I bought these for my daughter for Christmas. She enjoyed making them; I just don't remember them shrinking so small... but I am sure that is the fault of my memory. But it was neat to share something from my childhood with my children.
