A little difficult to start, but overall a great kit!Oct 21, 2009
By M. Andersen I bought this kit for a friend's nine-year old, since she likes making the regular knotted bracelets so much. She couldn't wait to tear into it! The measurements at the side of the directions page are handy- the only thing you need that's not in the kit is a scissor. The only problem we really had was starting the pattern, physically. It's very clear-cut and the color-coding is very easy to follow, but holding the wheel, the knot, and still having a free hand to separate the strands nicely while keeping the knot in the center of the wheel is a bit of a trick- I ended up holding the wheel and the knot for her the first time so she could move the strands. After that, it is a breeze- just a few simple steps, repeated. Overall, I'm giving it four stars since I can't vouch for how well it holds up, I don't know how "educational" it would be past developing coordination skills, and the fumbling it took to start, which I'm sure gets easier with time. Otherwise, it's great- she gets to create friendship bracelets that are very different from the ones her friends make!

Fun for mom too.Dec 14, 2009

I really like this friendship bracelet wheel. The amazon website says for ages 6 and up and the manufacturer says 8 years and up. I definitely think the 8 years and up is more accurate. Getting the wheel strung and ready to go is the hard part. A six year old could probably do the rest once they understand the pattern, which is quite simple. I found the process therapeutic.

Our 11 year old loves this. At first, it was a little hard for her to understand but next thing you know, she was on u-tube watching video on how to work it and just makes more and more and more. She now wants different wheels for her birthday. excellent product!

Too complicated for a child's toyDec 23, 2011
By A. Campbell I am a true and accomplished crafter. I have never tried making friendship bracelets but my niece asked that I begin teaching her some of my crafts. I thought that making the bracelets would be a good beginning for a pre-teen and one of my younger grandnieces but before I could teach them how to work the wheels, I decided that I would have to try making the bracelets myself. I indeed did figure out how to make the bracelet but not from the instructions included in the kit, but from looking on You-Tube. The enclosed directions are poorly written, very difficult to understand and frankly, I do not believe that a young child will be able to conquer it. I would not recommend this kit to anyone, not even my worse enemy!

fun exceptFeb 11, 2010
the Friendship bracelet making kit is really fun except that it takes a really long time to finish one, the markings on the wheel start to wear off, and the wheel is really hard to string. I like making them for different people, and it is super easy once you get the wheel strung so overall i like it a lot!
