The bead holder does not hold the beads in place as you braid them. Very frustrating "craft"; 6 year old, 9 year old, and two skilled adults failed to crack this one.

Got this for Christmas. Flimsy plastic. The whole plastic thing is a guide to building the bracelet, but I, as an adult, found it hard to use. I actually had to assemble the bracelet without the guide, and that was also hard. BUT, the guide was harder. My 12 year old grew tired of this quickly, therefore I was the bracelet maker. I do not like to do crafts, so I wasn't very happy in assembling these bracelets. Needless to say, only two bracelets were put together.

My 11 year old daughter had fun making bracelets with this kit. At first it was hard for her to line everything up and fit all the beads into the clasp. But with some practice (and help from me), she was able to make bracelets by herself.
The problem however is that the clasps do not stay closed very well. Each side of the clasp comes in two pieces, and these two pieces hold the beads in when closed. If the bracelet gets bumped or pulled on too hard, the two halves of the clasp sometimes come apart and the braided beads come un-braided. You have to re-braid the beads and put them back in the clasp, which is kind of tricky to do.
Overall, it is fun to choose the colors, and weave the bead strands to make the bracelets, but you need to be very careful when actually wearing the bracelet to make sure it doesn't come apart. Maybe a piece of tape would help.

I got this for my daughter who loves to braid and do crafty things and she loved it. It took us a bit to figure it all out but once we did, she could do it mostly by herself and she's 6 years old. Yes, the clasps are junk and don't stay closed but a little super glue fixed that problem. We'd just insert the beads into the clasp, drop some glue inside, close it up and give it a minute to dry, then we were ready to go. The only problem with the glue is they're not coming apart if you wanted to change colors or something but we never did. My daughter made bracelets for grandma, friends and even a necklace for herself. The guide wasn't great and it was almost as easy to do it without the guide, but she preferred to use the guide in case she needed to take a break, the guide would hold the bracelet in place. As a mom I would have given it 2 stars but my daughter really liked it so it gets 3 stars. Like most of these craft in a box items, the quality just isn't there.

I hate this toy, it keeps breaking. Impossible to thread beads thru slider. Beads keep popping out of clasp. I wish I could send it back. I also purchased the friendship bracelet maker by same company, it was expensive another piece of crap. Go to the movies instead save your money. PLEASE!!
